Chapter Four- The Truth Untold

The next morning, Isaac sat on the couch, his posture tense as he rested his elbows on his knees. His gaze was fixed on the floor, deep in thought. Catherine, meanwhile, was pacing back and forth in the small living room, her anxiety palpable as she awaited a call from Tony.

The silence was abruptly shattered by the shrill ring of the phone. Catherine practically leaped to answer it, her hand trembling slightly as she picked up the receiver.

"Hey Tony, what's up?" Catherine's voice was steady, though her anticipation was clear.

"I'm good, baby cake," Tony replied, his tone light and reassuring. "I'm sending the files and photos now. Is there anything else I can assist with you, baby cakes?"

Catherine glanced at Isaac, who was watching her intently. "No, that's all, Tony. I owe you lunch."

"I'll hold you to that," Tony said with a chuckle before the call was disconnected.

Catherine quickly hung up and turned to Isaac. "The files and photos are on their way. It should give us a clearer picture of what really happened."

Isaac nodded, his eyes reflecting a mixture of gratitude and anxiety. "Thank you, Catherine. I know this isn't easy, and I really appreciate everything you're doing."

Catherine offered a reassuring smile. "We're in this together. Let's see what the files reveal and figure out our next steps."

As Catherine waited for the files to come through, she returned to the kitchen to prepare some coffee for them both. The mundane task provided a momentary distraction from the tension hanging over them. Isaac took the opportunity to gather his thoughts, mentally preparing himself for the revelations that were about to come.

The minutes ticked by slowly until Catherine's phone buzzed with a notification. She quickly grabbed it and saw that the files and photos had arrived. With a deep breath, she opened them and began to review the material, her heart pounding as she hoped for answers.

Isaac joined her at the table, his eyes scanning the screen over her shoulder. Together, they pored over the evidence, each piece bringing them closer to understanding the truth behind the false accusation and the real perpetrators. The morning's quiet tension gave way to focused determination as they embarked on this new chapter of their search for justice.

Catherine and Isaac huddled around the laptop in the dim light of the living room, the screen illuminating their focused faces. Catherine swiftly navigated through the files and photos, her hands moving with practiced efficiency as she fast-forwarded through the footage. The clock on the screen showed 8:00 PM as she zeroed in on that crucial time.

The video quality improved as they neared the target time. The footage revealed a tense scene: the area was visibly tense, the streets populated with shadowy figures that hinted at a rival gang's presence. The surroundings were dimly lit, casting long shadows that only added to the ominous atmosphere.

As the video continued, they saw a police car approach the area. The scene quickly escalated into chaos. Catherine and Isaac watched in horrified silence as one of the men from the rival group stepped into view, pulling a gun and firing a fatal shot into the head of a police officer. The footage captured the brutal act in stark detail, followed by a few more shots fired into the air.

Catherine paused the video and rewound it to get a better look at the gunman. With a steady hand, she took a screenshot of the figure, the clarity of the image revealing distinct features that could help in identifying him. Isaac leaned in closer, his jaw tightening as he recognized the man from his own experience in the underworld.
