Present Time
One morning in the state of Montana, a man, bleeding from his head slowly but gently, placed his hand on the head of a badly injured horse. A wreak happened that day on the road, the man unfortunately had to put the beautiful creature to sleep, for it was beyond helping. The man made his way to the other vehicle where he discovers the death of the other driver. Before stepping away, he noticed a advertisement on the arm rest. When he picked it up the words 'Paradise Valley' in big bold words, the address very close to his home. Too close for his liking. He heard sirens coming from the distance as he leaned against the fence, looking at the cattle before him.
"The things we lose to keep you fed." As he put a cigarette in his mouth, two officers pulled up and started running towards the site. One of them recognizes the man straight away.
"Jesus, that's John Dutton."
John Dutton, the owner of the largest ranch in the state. The Yellowstone Dutton Ranch.

It was the very next morning when his youngest, Delilah Dutton, came down to witness Jamie attempting to stitch their father's head.
"Oh my god, Daddy?!" She quickly ran to him, despite her huge belly out and about as she made it to her father. "Are you okay? What happened?"
"Heh, a lot happened sweetheart, one in which is me getting stitches." He loved his youngest's kind heart, even after she was attacked all those months ago, she was still his little girl, who was to give birth anytime soon. He watched as Jamie gave the needle and thread to Delilah as she began to finished the stitches.
As Delilah was stitching her father up, Jamie began his attempt to talk to John about an offer given to him during a court session.
"All right, Alan asked me to mention it, so I will. They'd allow us to harvest the timber before the...."
"No." John moved his head a little when answering Jamie, which resulted in Delilah grabbing him by the chin to look at her, demanding to be still while she finishes up her work. "The answer's no."
"Can I do this please. You're moving too much."
"Sorry sweetheart." He chuckled at his daughter's attempts to be stern, but only resulted to him looking at an angry kitten. Jamie see's the same thing, but he knows that other than Lee, Delilah was the only one John Dutton can't say no too.
"When you say no, it must be the death of the question."
"Mm-hmm, I understand."
"If there's even a hint of maybe, the questions won't stop until they finds something you can't say no to." Jamie mmm'd in agreement as he watches his sister finishing the last stitch to their father's forehead.
"You got to learn when to think like a lawyer, you understand? And when to think like a landowner, or a lawyer's all you're ever gonna be."
"Yeah." As soon as Delilah was done, she began to clean up as John looked in the mirror.
"Well, I'll say this. You two... You got your mother's hands." He kissed his daughter's head as he stands up, grabbing his hat and began to walk out the door, Jamie following as Delilah followed soon after she finishes cleaning up.
"Hey! I told them no." Jamie yelled out to John as walks towards the running helicopter. "Hey, I said you wouldn't consider it."
As Delilah got closer, she saw Lee coming up to their father.
