"Good evening. This is Sky News at eight pm. The biggest headline tonight is of Phoenix Air, the Qatari luxury airline that recently suffered a hijack and crash, launching its Private Air Charter Service for flyers who wish to charter smaller aircrafts for personal or professional use.
The newly commissioned fleet, sixty top of the range liners ranging from the Circus Vision SF50, Pilatus PC 24 models and GULFSTREAM G700, to smaller Cessna models for smaller and shorter range needs.
Omar Maktabi, Qatari magnate and founder of Phoenix Air, who was recently under suspicion in the hijack and crash investigation of one of his own planes, Flight PX500, was fully cleared of any suspicious activity, and has since not only worked to repair the financial damage to his name and airline, but has added another feather in his cap with this new venture. The private charter service will employ a whole new fleet of pilots specifically trained for the smaller jets.
The investigation into the hijack and crash of Phoenix Flight PX500 continues in the background, as all the wreckage has now been fished out of the Persian Gulf and is currently being scoured through at the Qatari Aviation Agency in Doha. The primary suspects, Sergei Ikonovich, member of the underground Latvian organisation AXU, and Kenny Carter, previously employed flight engineer at Phoenix Air, were being kept at an undisclosed location most likely within Qatar when the news of Sergei's death emerged.
It was said that the Latvian tried to grab a guard's firearm during the transfer from the undisclosed location to Doha, where both suspects would've been handed over to what was thought to be the British authorities. The violent action let to Sergei facing the full force of the Qatari military personnel assigned to the suspect's security as they opened fire immediately, instantly killing the -year old. His body was later handed over to the British authorities, and post-mortem details have revealed that he was shot countless times, and that the death was instant when the first bullet pierced his heart. Sources say the news had reached the AXU, who have caused some damage and disruption in Riga, the Latvian capital, in protest, but have been quiet otherwise.
Kenny Carter, the only remaining suspect, is now thought to be undergoing mental fitness tests to determine his ability to stand trial. His family, an ex-wife and two children, have revealed that he was known to have anxiety and depression, and was also on medication for them. They told Sky News that he is a good man who had tried to good by his family, and that they were not aware of him ever being involved in any criminal activity. Kenny lived alone in Liverpool, has no other family that we know of, and is now known to have been under heavy debts due to a gambling addiction.
The Phoenix Air spokesperson has released employee records detailing the several employee hardship funds, loans and bursaries Carter had taken out from the company in an effort to pay the astronomical debts. It is now a working theory that he was hired by the AXU to hijack and crash the plane in order to drive down Phoenix Air stock and hurt the company in the long run.
Sources have said that Phoenix Air had restructured their entire training and safety program months before the hijack and crash, and that just a few months ago, Omar Maktabi had held a press conference in which he stated in no uncertain terms that any attack on his fleet will be answered with the full force of the Qatari military.
Did Omar Maktabi know his airline was under attack, and possible fatal danger, and do nothing about it? Sources say that the AXU have had their targets set on Phoenix Air for a while now, and that the airline was now potentially the most unsafe fleet in the skies.
Nevertheless, Mr Maktabi seems to be powering ahead with the new venture and be just as strong financially as he was before. The private charter service is already said to have been pre-booked and sold out, further strengthening the belief and trust of the world's elite in Phoenix Air.
