Chapter Twelve- Thank You
Catherine, Katie, and Emma strolled through the park, the evening air warm and filled with the laughter of families and the distant sound of music from the festival. The vibrant colors of the sunset painted the sky, creating a picturesque backdrop for their outing.
"Today was amazing!" Katie exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "You were incredible on stage, Aunt Cathy! Everyone loved you!"
Catherine smiled, a warm feeling spreading through her. "Thanks, Katie. I'm glad you enjoyed it."
Emma nudged Catherine playfully. "And how about that music director? Are you sure you don't want to consider his offer? It could be a great opportunity!"
Catherine shook her head, a thoughtful expression crossing her face. "I appreciate it, but I'm not ready to jump into that kind of commitment. My work at the hospital is my priority right now."
Katie looked up at her with wide eyes. "But you're so talented! You could do both!"
Catherine chuckled. "Maybe one day, but for now, I'm happy just singing for fun and spending time with you two."
As they walked, they passed by a small pond where ducks swam lazily. Emma pointed excitedly. "Let's sit by the water for a bit!"
They found a bench overlooking the pond and settled down, the soft sounds of nature surrounding them. "I love moments like this," Emma said, stretching her arms. "Just us, no stress."
Catherine took a deep breath, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. "It really is nice to unwind. You both keep me grounded."
Katie grinned. "And we'll always be here for you, Aunt Cathy. Whether it's singing or just hanging out."
As the sun dipped lower in the sky, the three of them shared stories and laughter, their bond growing stronger with every moment spent together.
As they made their way home, the sweet aroma of baked goods wafted through the air, prompting them to make one more stop for desserts. "I know the perfect place!" Katie said, her excitement palpable.
They walked to a quaint little bakery with twinkling fairy lights and a display case filled with colorful pastries and cakes. The warm glow from the inside invited them in, and the sound of laughter and chatter added to the cozy atmosphere.
Catherine looked at the menu, her eyes darting over the tempting options. "What should we get? Everything looks delicious!"
Katie beamed. "We should try a little bit of everything! Cupcakes, macarons, and maybe a slice of that chocolate cake!"
Emma nodded enthusiastically. "And don't forget some ice cream! You can never have too much dessert!"
After a few moments of deliberation, they ordered a selection of treats to share. With their plates piled high with sugary delights, they found a table by the window, the night bustling around them.
As they dug into their desserts, Catherine couldn't help but feel grateful for these moments. "I don't know what I would do without you two," she said, savoring a rich chocolate cupcake.
Katie grinned, her mouth full of cake. "You'd be boring!"
Emma laughed. "Exactly! We keep things fun."
They spent the next hour enjoying their treats, chatting, and teasing each other, their laughter ringing through the bakery. The stress of their lives melted away, replaced by the simple joy of being together.
