The warm morning light filtered through the arched windows of the grand study, casting a golden glow across the room. Scrolls and books were scattered across the large mahogany table, some worn with age, others filled with fresh parchment. Jungkook sat across from Seokjin, his posture slightly tense but attentive as Taehyung’s mother, the former Luna, began to explain the intricacies of his new role.
Seokjin’s expression was calm, his voice gentle yet commanding. “Being Luna means you are the heart of the pack, Jungkook. While the Alpha leads with strength, the Luna leads with compassion. You are the bridge between Taehyung and the pack, ensuring harmony and understanding.”
Jungkook listened closely, nodding as Seokjin spoke. He had always known of the Luna’s responsibilities, but hearing it laid out so clearly made the weight of it settle more deeply on his shoulders. He wasn’t just Taehyung’s partner; he was becoming a pillar for the entire pack.
“You’ll resolve disputes between pack members, offer counsel, and ensure their needs are met,” Seokjin continued. “But beyond that, you are the face of empathy. The pack will look to you for reassurance in times of fear or uncertainty.”
Jungkook’s hands tightened in his lap as he absorbed Seokjin’s words. He had always cared for those close to him, but now the scope was far broader. The entire pack would depend on him, not just for leadership, but for warmth, for guidance.
Sensing his unease, Seokjin placed a reassuring hand on Jungkook’s shoulder. “I know it’s overwhelming, but you won’t be alone. You have Taehyung, and the pack already respects you. In time, you’ll grow into this role.”
Jungkook nodded slowly, his voice soft but determined. “I want to be the Luna they deserve. Even if I didn’t ask for this, I want to do it right.”
Seokjin smiled warmly, pride evident in his eyes. “That’s why you’ll succeed, Jungkook. You care. And that’s the most important quality of a Luna.”
The day passed swiftly, filled with pack matters and meetings. Jungkook remained by Taehyung’s side, watching closely as the Alpha managed disputes and made decisions. With his silver veil in place, Jungkook projected an air of mystery, offering respectful nods and polite greetings but keeping a careful distance.
Taehyung, however, was not the cold figure Jungkook had expected. Though Jungkook maintained a formal demeanor, Taehyung was gentle, ensuring he included Jungkook in every decision. Even when Jungkook hesitated to speak, Taehyung remained patient, never raising his voice or pressuring him to say more than he was ready for. It was a far cry from the domineering alpha Jungkook had imagined.
At one point, while discussing the needs of the southern territories, Taehyung paused, noticing Jungkook’s silence. “You don’t have to hold back, Luna,” he said quietly, his voice steady but encouraging. “Your opinion matters to me—and to the pack.”
Jungkook looked up, surprised by Taehyung’s words. “I’m still learning,” he admitted softly. “I don’t want to speak out of turn.”
“There’s no wrong turn for a Luna,” Taehyung replied, a rare softness in his eyes. “You guide us as much as I lead. We’re in this together.”
Jungkook nodded, grateful for the reassurance, though he still felt the quiet distance between them. It was a delicate balance, one he hoped would grow stronger in time. For now, he focused on observing, absorbing as much as he could.
