The morning after the mission, the group is gathered in the common area, sitting around the table and eating breakfast. The atmosphere is much more relaxed compared to the tension of the previous day. Rose and Bakugo are seated across from each other, surprisingly in good spirits, teasing one another between bites of food.
Rose smirks as she leans back in her chair, eyeing Bakugo. "You know, you didn't have to be such a hardass during the mission yesterday. We got the job done, didn't we?"
Bakugo grins, "I was keeping us on track. You're the one who couldn't stay focused, dumbass."
Rose rolls her eyes, but there's a lightness to the way she does it. "Right, because you're never distracted, Mr. Explosion Murder."
Bakugo smirks, "I'm never distracted. I've got the best damn focus in this group."
Rose laughs, "Sure you do. That's why you're always blowing stuff up even when it's not necessary."
Kirishima, sitting nearby, watches the interaction with raised eyebrows. "Whoa, what happened? You guys were at each other's throats yesterday, and now you're all buddy-buddy?"
Kaminari grins, "Yeah, seriously. Are we going to get whiplash from all this?"
The rest of the group exchanges glances as Bakugo and Rose continue to banter. There's a noticeable shift in the atmosphere—one that's much lighter than it's been in days. Kaminari, always ready to lighten the mood, gets an idea.
Kaminari smirks as he leans forward on the table. "You know what we need? Another karaoke night."
Sero nods, "I'm down. We haven't done that in a while."
Rose smiles, "Karaoke, huh? Sounds like fun. As long as Kaminari doesn't sing another power ballad."
He laughs, "No promises, but I'll try to keep it under control."
Bakugo groans, "Fine. But don't expect me to sing, dammit."
The group cheers at the idea, with Sero and Kirishima already making plans for the night. Kirishima glances at Rose and Bakugo. "You guys mind heading out to grab some snacks and dinner ingredients for later? We're low on everything."
Rose nods, "Sure, why not? We'll go incognito."
Bakugo shrugs, clearly indifferent but willing to go along with it. "Let's get this over with."
A few hours later, Rose and Bakugo head out into the city, dressed in casual clothes to keep a low profile. The streets are busy, but no one seems to recognize them as they weave through the crowds, stopping by a few shops to pick up snacks and ingredients for dinner.
Rose glances at Bakugo as they walk, noticing how relaxed he seems compared to his usual intense demeanor. "He's not as grumpy when we're just doing normal stuff," she thinks, smiling to herself. "It's kind of nice."
Bakugo huffs, "What's with the damn smile? You thinking about something?"
Rose smirks, "Maybe I'm just enjoying the fact that you're not grumpy up for once."
Bakugo rolls his eyes but there's a faint smile tugging at his lips. "Don't get used to it. The day's still young."
Rose laughs, "Sure, sure. I'll enjoy it while it lasts."
As they walk, the playful banter fades, and the atmosphere between them becomes more serious, though not tense. Rose slows her pace slightly, her mind drifting back to the mission—and the energy she took from Bakugo without asking.
She hesitates for a moment before speaking, her voice softer than usual. "You didn't say anything about me taking your energy."
Bakugo glances at her, his expression unreadable. "I didn't mind. You needed it."
Rose replies quietly, "Yeah, but... I didn't ask."
Bakugo shrugs, his tone more relaxed than she expected. "You don't always have to ask. If you need it, you take it."
His words catch her off guard, and for a moment, she's not sure how to respond. "Why is he being so... understanding about this?" she wonders, feeling a strange warmth settle in her chest. "It's just... different when it's you."
Bakugo's eyes flicker with something she can't quite place, but he doesn't look away. "Maybe that's because we're different."
Rose frowns slightly, "What do you mean?"
Bakugo grunts, "I mean, we've been working together for how long now? It's not weird that we're... in sync."
Rose feels her heart race at his words, but she quickly pushes the feeling aside. "He's right. We work well together. That's all it is." But deep down, she knows there's more to it. "Yeah... I guess."
They walk in silence for a few minutes, the unspoken tension between them lingering but not suffocating. Neither of them is ready to confront what's really happening, but the connection is there—stronger than ever.
Rose takes a deep breath, forcing herself to keep things light. "So, what do you think the others are going to sing tonight?"
Bakugo smirks, "Kaminari's probably going to butcher something loud and obnoxious. Kirishima will try to sing something heroic, and Sero's going to pick some weird song none of us know."
Rose laughs, "Sounds about right. And you?"
He grins, "I already told you—I'm not singing."
She teases, "We'll see about that."
By the time Rose and Bakugo return to the hideout, the group is already setting up for karaoke night. The energy is light and fun, and everyone is excited for a night of laughter and singing.
Kirishima grins as Rose and Bakugo walk in with bags of snacks and ingredients. "You guys are back! How was the shopping trip?"
Rose smiles, "It was fine. We got everything we need."
Kaminari grins, "You two didn't kill each other, huh? That's a first."
Sero grabs one of thebags, already rifling through it. "Alright, let's get this night started! Who'sready for some terrible singing?"
As the group starts preparing for the night, Rose can't help but glance at Bakugo. Their conversation from earlier is still fresh in her mind, and though they didn't talk about everything, there's a sense of understanding between them now—something that feels almost... comforting.
