"That's ridiculous, Matt would never cheat on me!" I exclaimed. "I know, that's what we told him. He said he saw them kissing though, and when we asked if he had any proof, he said he'd wait until you came." Kelsey said. Andrew pulled out his phone to show us the picture. "This is such bullshit he's never even met either of them how would he possibly know if it was them kissing? He's just making it up!" I exclaimed. Turning to Andrew, I said, "You know I thought you were better than making up rumors."
"It's not made up, and I did meet them, you pointed out your boyfriend at the mall, and I saw you hugging the chick when you got off the bus, just before I saw her making out with your boyfriend once you were gone. I understand if you don't believe me, but at least look at the picture." He said, handing me his phone.
Muttering about how stupid this was, I took Andrew's phone and looked at the picture displayed on his screen. It was indeed Tori kissing another guy, but only the back of the boys head was showing. His hair did look remarkably similar to Matt's but, there was no way it was him.
I handed the phone back to Andrew."You can't even see the guy's face, it could be anyone."I pointed out. Andrew handed the phone to Kelsey and Adam, who upon seeing the photo, agreed.
"Yeah, but then he broke off from sucking your friends face, and I got this picture." He said, handing me his phone. I took it from him, just as the bell rang and our teacher walked in. I stole a glance at Andrew's phone, and a picture of a very disheveled looking Matt stared back at me. I handed the phone back to Andrew and whispered that he totally faked it. Unfortunately, I didn't whisper quietly enough and Mr. Green heard me.
"Please no talking, unless you'd like to receive detention," his monotone voice announced. I muttered an apology, and he continued introducing himself and discussing what we would be learning this year.
As much as I tried to focus, my mind was elsewhere. Could that picture of Matt have been real? There was no way; I mean he wouldn't cheat on me, would he? But Andrew's pictures looked real... could he have faked it? Why would he do that? My mind was racing, and I decided there was only one way to know for sure. I raised my hand and asked for a bathroom pass, which I received, and all but ran out of the classroom.
I walked over to the lockers, and slumped down on to the floor, bringing my knees to my chest. I pulled out my phone to send a text to Tori
To: Tori:
Meet me by the lockers ASAP.
Within one minute Tori had walked into the hallway, and plopped down next to me.
"What's your boyfriend's name, Tori?" I asked.
"Matt, why?" she responded.
My heart sank. I could only hope it was one of the other 5 Matts in my school.
"And his last name?" I managed to choke out.
"Matt Wilson," she said, utterly confused, "Is something wrong, you look like you're about to cry."
I burst into tears, and buried my head in my hands.
"Whoa, Brooke, what's wrong?" She asked.
"Matt Wilson is my boyfriend. That son of a bitch is cheating on us." I choked out between sobs.
"What? No way! Maybe it's a different Matt Wilson?" She asked, hoping what I said was a lie as much as did.
"There's only one Matt Wilson in this school." I sniffled.
I saw the hurt and betrayal flash across her face, while I tried to overcome the same feelings. I pulled my hands over my eyes and sobbed into them, embarrassed for anyone to see me while walking through the hallway.
"That fucking douchebag! He gave me the same damn ring you're wearing!" She yelled, pulling her ring off her finger and throwing it down to the floor. I ripped mine off as well, throwing it at the lockers.
I heard the click of high heels walking through the hallway and immediately dried my tears. When I looked up I saw our guidance counselor, Ms. Curtis walking over to us.
"Aren't you two supposed to be in class right now?" She asked in a curt tone and then immediately she noticed our bloodshot eyes and her tone changed to a kinder one. "Is everything okay girls?"
"Our boyfriends cheating on us." Tori muttered. I stifled a sob. Ms. Curtis looked shocked. "Isn't your boyfriend Matt Wilson? He's cheating on you? He seemed like such a nice young man though! I'm so sorry girls, but don't just sit there and mope about it get up and do something." She said
I looked up at her from where my head was buried in my hands. "Yeah? Like what?" I asked.
She seemed to consider the idea for a while and then a look crossed her face. A look that told me she had a good idea. "We could embarrass him over the loudspeaker. I have access to it, and I would be happy to help you get back at that jack-ass. The same thing happened to me in high school, and I didn't do anything about it, and don't worry about getting into trouble for it, the principal is the guy who cheated on me and he's felt guilty about it for the past 11 years, if I told him this would make me forgive him, he'd do it in a heartbeat. "
I got excited at the prospect of getting my revenge and shot up off the floor. "you would really do this for us?" Tori asked, mirroring my thoughts exactly. "of course, now come to the office and think about something to say" she said, walking toward the office while we followed.
On such short notice, we were unable to think of something all that good, but we had would work. Tori and I agreed to make sure no one knows it was us, by having Ms. Curtis announce it. We also agreed to keep pretending we didn't know Matt was cheating on us, until we have a better plan for revenge.
Ms. Curtis was right about our principal allowing it, and within minutes we were in the office in front of the loudspeaker watching Ms. Curtis make our announcement. "Matt Wilson to the principal's office, your mother has the ointment for your butt rash. I repeat Matt Wilson to the principal's office."
I heard the sound of laughter from the hallways, and immediately felt better about the situation. My dumbass boyfriend was cheating on me with my best friend, and the best plan of revenge we had at the moment was to pretend he had an ass rash. But that was better than nothing, and we would devise a better plan later.
We thanked Ms. Curtis for her help, and headed back for the last five minutes of class, where we were both excused by our principal. When I sat down in my seat, Kelsey passed a note to me that read,
So was Matt cheating on you? And was that you over the loudspeaker? I hope not, you deserve so much better!
I quickly scrawled back a message reading
Yep, but I'm okay now, I'll tell you more details later. My house after school to discuss plans for vengeance.
After class had ended Kelsey, Adam and even Andrew hugged me and told me it would be okay and we would get back at him. I assured them I was fine, and we headed for lunch, where I was not surprised to se a lack of Matt there. He was probably trying to avoid the dilemma of which girlfriend he would sit with. Tori joined us at our table, and while we discussed battle strategies, I noticed Matt walk by the lunchroom door and peer in. Upon seeing Tori and I seated next to each other, I could see his lips form the word, "shit", as he ran away from the door.
That little bastard has no idea what lays ahead for him.
