Chapter Fifteen- Corrupted Government

When Isaac dropped Catherine off at her house, he took no chances. After the disturbing information she had shared, his protective instincts kicked into overdrive. As soon as they stepped inside, he made a call to his men, instructing them to sweep the house for any bugs or surveillance devices. He wasn't about to risk anyone overhearing the dangerous knowledge Catherine held.

While his men conducted a thorough search, Catherine sat on the couch and handed Isaac the files she had received on both Shawn Wynter and Alvin Plummer. Her fingers trembled slightly as she passed them over, knowing how grave the contents were.

"In these files," she began, her voice steady but filled with tension, "you'll see what both of them were working on. It's all connected—to the government and the criminal underworld. Alvin and Shawn were knee-deep in something big. Bigger than either of us realized."

Isaac took the file from her, his expression unreadable but his eyes dark with focus. He thumbed through the pages quickly, scanning for key details. The words "classified" and "high-risk" jumped out at him. Documents that hinted at covert operations, suspicious dealings, and ties between powerful political figures and crime syndicates. It was the kind of information people would kill to protect.

As his men completed the sweep, they reported back. "The house is clean, boss. No bugs, no tracking devices."

Isaac nodded, relieved but still cautious. He kissed Catherine's forehead gently before turning to leave. "I'll take care of this," he promised. "You stay safe. I'm going to head to headquarters and meet with my team. We'll figure this out."

Catherine watched him go, her heart heavy. She trusted him, but she knew that what they were dealing with was more than just corruption—it was a tangled web of power that reached deep into both the government and the criminal world. People who got too close to the truth ended up dead. She prayed silently that Isaac would remain safe as he uncovered the layers of lies and deceit.

As Isaac drove toward his headquarters, he called his parents to fill them in. His father, always a calm and calculated man, listened carefully to everything Isaac said about the files and their potential ramifications. His mother, ever the strategist, knew that they were about to uncover something far worse than they had ever imagined. Isaac's trusted officials were already alerted, waiting for him at their secure location.

But none of them were prepared for what was about to be revealed. The files contained more than just evidence of corruption—they hinted at a deep conspiracy involving high-ranking government officials, secret alliances with criminal organizations, and military projects that had been buried under layers of classified information. Projects that both Alvin and Shawn had been part of. And now, Isaac and his men were about to uncover just how far-reaching and dangerous this conspiracy truly was.

As he arrived at headquarters, Isaac felt the weight of the moment settle over him. This wasn't just about revenge or justice anymore. It was about survival. And the stakes had never been higher.

Isaac asked his driver to pick up Catherine, she told him something even deeper.

Isaac's heart raced as he listened to Catherine explain how she had come into possession of the file. The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on him, but he couldn't help but admire her courage.

"Are you sure you're safe?" he asked, his voice low and concerned.

Catherine nodded. "The Secretary of State was desperate. He told me that the information in this file was vital for national security and that he couldn't trust anyone else. He was afraid for his life and handed it over to me, believing I could protect it."
