I double checked if I had everything in my school bag as we drove nearer to school. Good I had everything. I lent back into the passenger seat of my mothers new car and let out a relieved exhale. This car was a lot nicer and fancier than her old one and a hell of a lot more expensive, but she deserved this car, and we had been saving up for a new car for ages.
"Everything alright Grace? You seem a bit tense." My mother asked, taking her eyes off the road for just a second to give me a smile and then returning to focus on driving.
"Yeah I'm fine mum, just a bit nervous I suppose." I replied to her as I looked out the window of the car,
"Don't worry honey, you'll be fine it is only another year at school, just like the other ones but the only thing that is different is that it's the last."
"Yeah." I said looking at her this time. She turned and smiled at me and I smiled back to reassure her that I was ok. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket, I removed it from the pocket of my school skirt to see who had messaged me. I unlocked my phone and went to my messages to reveal a text from Alfie:
You here yet? I'm waiting like a loner :(
I quickly replied saying:
Oh poor you :P haha I'm almost there
"Who you texting?" Mum asked being the nosey person she is,
"Just Alfred. Must you always ask?" I said jokingly.
"Yes I must ask because I don't want my daughter talking to some random stranger."
"Mum I'm not like that gosh!" I said defensively. Mum laughed
"Oh I know Grace. You should invite him over for dinner sometime we didn't get to see him over the holidays."
"Yeah he was busy partying all holidays," Which was true, "But I will ask if he would like to have dinner with us." Mum nodded. My phone vibrated again in my hand:
Ok. Meet me at the auditorium I missed you like crazy !!
I smiled at the message and put my phone back into my pocket.

I turned the corner and saw him leaning against the auditorium wall near the entrance door, he's looking down at his phone, reading something. I continued to walk towards him and he looked up and sees me, his face lit up and he put his phone away in his pocket and practically runs towards me arms outstretched. I smiled and outstretched my arms, we finally reached each other and he hugs me tightly lifting me up and spinning me around. He placed me on the ground once again and let go of me saying,
"Oh god I've missed you so much Grace! I'm sorry I didn't hang out with you on the holidays."
"It's ok, I've missed you too!" I reply giving him another small hug. He smelt like I remember, he smells like him, like the Alfie I know. We're finally back together to cause trouble and drive our teachers crazy. "I was busy with work and stuff anyway. Mum's missed you though she wants you to come over for dinner." We began to walk around. I've always liked the look of my school, red bricks and nice small gardens scattered around with roses and small green plants.
"Ah yes, your Mum is so sweet I will see when I'm free for dinner." His soft brown hair had grown slightly over the holidays, as expected, but there was something different about him that I just couldn't figure out. "So how ya been? Good I hope."
"Yeah I've been good, nothing more, nothing less, what about you?"
"Actually really good surprisingly." He laughed slightly and I smiled. He was much taller than me, he always had been but now it seemed like he was about a heads length taller than me. That must be what is different. He nudged me with his shoulder slightly and as if reading my mind and said,
"Have you shrunk? Or is it just me?" He smiled and laughed,
"I think you'll find that you have just grown taller dumbo."
"Ah yes that could also be a possible conclusion." I shook my head at him. He was goofy and I believe that's what made him so much fun. We walked a little more until we met some more of our friends and caught up with what happened, who made out with who, who rooted who, the killer parties that went on just the casual stuff. We all talked until the bell went and we parted ways to go to our individual homerooms, Alfie and I, on the other hand were lucky enough to be in the same homeroom, that was where first met and where our friendship started. After homeroom we went to our classes and lived out our school day like it always had been, bored. I was lucky enough to have English and Human Biology with Alfie which made the day go a little faster and made it more enjoyable. We picked up where we left off as if we had spent the whole holidays together. It was good.
