Chapter Twenty One- The Apologies.

They listened intently as the President's voice crackled through the speakers, tension thickening the air around them.

"Sir, everything we spoke about is on the news," his secretary reported, a note of panic in her voice.

"What? I thought you searched me thoroughly! You said there wasn't any bug!" The President's frustration was palpable.

Catherine exchanged a glance with Isaac, a mixture of pride and disbelief washing over her. She leaned closer to the speaker, eager to catch every word.

"There isn't any bug, sir. Dr. Wynter is smarter than we thought," the secretary replied, her voice shaky.

"But how do they know?" the President demanded, his tone shifting to one of urgency and fear. "We can't let this information get out. If the public learns about our operations—"

"Then we need to find her and shut this down before it spirals further," the secretary interrupted, her voice resolute. "We can't underestimate her or her team."

Catherine felt a surge of adrenaline. They were being targeted now, and the stakes had never been higher. She quickly motioned for everyone to stay silent as she absorbed the conversation.

"Get our people on it," the President ordered. "I want every resource we have dedicated to finding Dr. Wynter. If she thinks she can expose us, she's in for a rude awakening."

As the call ended, Catherine turned to the group, her eyes fierce. "They're coming after us. We need to move quickly and strategically."

Tony looked at her, a mix of admiration and concern in his expression. "What's the plan?"

"We gather more intel, keep the pressure on them, and fortify our defenses. If they're coming for me, we need to be ready," Catherine replied, her voice steady and commanding.

Marco added, "We should also work on counter-surveillance. If they're onto us, we need to outsmart them."

Isaac stepped forward, a determined look in his eyes. "Let's prepare for the worst. We'll meet with Lucas as soon as he arrives and devise our next steps. We can't let them intimidate us."

They listened intently as the President's voice crackled through the speakers, tension thickening the air around them.

Catherine nodded, feeling the weight of responsibility but also the thrill of the challenge ahead. Together, they would fight back, not just for themselves but for everyone who had been wronged. The President's secrets would be exposed, and they would ensure that justice prevailed.

Suddenly, a deafening crash echoed through the speakers as a vehicle slammed into the motorcade carrying the President. The sound of gunfire erupted, filling the room with a sense of urgency.

Catherine and the team leaned closer to the monitors, their eyes wide as they listened to the chaos unfolding. Through the bug, they heard the President's voice, laced with shock and anger. "What the hell is happening?!" he yelled, ducking for cover as shots rang out.

"Sir, we have to get you out of here!" his secretary shouted, trying to pull him to safety.

In the background, the unmistakable sound of a motorist's voice cut through the noise. "I always hated you guys!" he shouted, filled with contempt before the car sped away, tires screeching.

Catherine exchanged worried glances with Isaac and Tony. "This is a coordinated attack," she whispered, urgency creeping into her voice. "They're targeting him for a reason."
