It was another day at the university, and the usual hustle and bustle filled the air as students hurried to their classes, weighed down by the looming mid-term exams. Some huddled together in groups, furiously scribbling notes and reviewing past lectures, while some was care free like some fallen angels are going to give their exams on behalf of them.
Suddenly, the door creaked open, and Professor Hyeon walked in, his face serious and unreadable. The entire class greeted him in unison, "Good morning, Professor Hyeon," to which he gave a curt nod, gesturing for everyone to settle down. The usual chatter died down, replaced by an uneasy silence.
"As you all know," the professor began, "mid-terms are approaching, but before we get into that, there's something else we need to address." The students exchanged nervous glances, sensing something was coming. "There will be a group project before the exams," he continued, raising a hand before anyone could object.
"And let me make this clear: it will be done in groups. I am not allowing anyone to work alone, and there will be no switching partners." A collective sigh of frustration swept through the room, but no one dared speak yet.
"Your partners will be assigned, and you will work with whoever I give you," he said firmly. One student leaned over to their friend and whispered, "This is going to be a disaster." Another raised a hand, hoping to protest, but the professor cut them off with a sharp look.
"No exceptions. This is part of the challenge, learning to collaborate. I don't want to hear about any issues with your partners." The class erupted in quiet grumbles and groans, some students exchanging hopeful looks with their friends, silently praying to be partnered with someone they liked. "This is going to be terrible," someone muttered under their breath, while another groaned, "Just my luck, I'll end up with the worst partner."
Professor Hyeon ignored the complaints, starting to call out names and pair up the students. As each pair was announced, reactions varied from relief to dismay. "You and me, huh?" one student said to their new partner, forcing a smile. "This should be interesting." Their boy sighed, "Interesting? Yeah, let's just hope we don't fail." With the pairs finalized, the room was filled with a mix of anxiety and reluctant acceptance. There was no changing the professor's mind; they had to put aside their preferences and work together, not just to survive the project, but also the fast-approaching mid-terms.
As Professor Hyeon began announcing the groups for the upcoming mid-term project. Each group was to consist of three students, and the professor methodically called out names as students exchanged glances, some relieved, others dismayed. Finally, as he neared the end of the list, Professor Hyeon looked up and said, "Now, we only have two students left, so they will be working together on the assignment, and they'll submit their report as a pair." He paused for a moment, letting the tension build before delivering the news. "Taehyung and Ivy, you both are going to be partners."
Hearing this, Taehyung sighed deeply, his eyes closing as he leaned his head back and moved his neck in a slow, exaggerated way, as though he was forcing himself to stay calm. His expression changed abruptly, and he shot a glare at the figure sitting beside him, knowing exactly who was responsible for this unexpected pairing. He muttered under his breath, "I mean, obviously, only Ivy Romanov could have pulled this off."
