After dinner, Y/n went to her room to get ready for bed.
“Goodnight, Jimin,” she said.
“Goodnight, princess,” Jimin replied.Taehyung watched as they parted ways, sensing something off about Jimin. Curiosity piqued, Taehyung tiptoed to Jimin’s room, but before he could knock, the door slammed shut in his face. Startled, Y/n flinched while she was doing her skincare routine.
“This boy!” she growled, wrapping herself in her duvet.Taehyung smirked to himself.
“I have my ways,” he whispered, his wings retracting into his body. His form became almost transparent, like a faint wisp of air. Silently, he passed through the door to Jimin’s room.
“Ah, now I’m in,” he muttered.Taehyung settled at the edge of Jimin’s bed, observing his friend’s intense focus on the papers scattered across the wooden desk, illuminated by the soft glow of a dim lamp. Taehyung’s eyes softened as he read the heading on one of the papers.
"Taehyung, I miss you..." Jimin whispered softly, clutching a group of photos in his hands, tears welling up in his eyes.
“I’ll find you, even if you’re far away,” Jimin murmured, leaning back in his chair, his voice barely audible.Taehyung’s attention shifted to Jimin’s phone.
“I’m sorry for invading your privacy, but let me unlock it for you, Jimin,” Taehyung said softly.Jimin jumped as the phone’s screen unlocked itself. His eyes widened as the wallpaper of him and Y/n with their parents appeared. His breath hitched, and his body trembled as he stared at the phone, frozen in fear. Then, red letters began appearing on the screen, as if someone was typing a message.
"Jimin... I’ll give you evidence about my disappearance. I’m not missing; I’m already dead. I’m in hell... help me... my soul is trapped, and only you can free me."
The words lingered on the screen, each letter burning into Jimin’s mind. His fingers twitched, reaching for the phone, but just as suddenly as they appeared, the words vanished in a burst of golden flames. The screen returned to its normal state, displaying the family photo again.
Breathing heavily, Jimin was unsure of what he had just witnessed. Without thinking, he bolted from his room and ran to Y/n's door.
Y/n, half-asleep, groggily opened her eyes as Jimin shook her awake.
“Yah, Jimin, let me sleep,” she mumbled.
“Princess... my phone... it…” Jimin’s voice faltered.Annoyed, Y/n tossed off her duvet and handed Jimin the glass of water from her nightstand.
“Drink this, and then talk,” she instructed.Jimin drained the glass and slammed it back on the table.
Y/n crossed her arms, watching his disheveled state.
“My phone... it’s haunted. And this apartment is haunted, too! We need to leave—"Y/n cut him off, rolling her eyes.
“It’s midnight, and you woke me up to tell me the apartment and your phone are haunted? You sound ridiculous, Jimin.”Before Jimin could respond, a loud thud echoed from his room. Y/n paused, her teasing expression fading.
“What was that?” she asked, suddenly alert.Jimin turned pale.
“I’ll go check,” he said, but Y/n was already getting up, switching on the lights.
“Don’t go alone,” Jimin said, clutching her shoulder nervously.
“Let go, Jimin, I’ll handle it,” she snapped, shrugging him off.Reluctantly, Jimin followed her as they made their way to his room, step by cautious step.
“Don’t come crying to me later if it’s something serious,” Y/n warned as they neared the door. Slowly, she opened it, only to see their cat, lazily pawing at Jimin’s desk.Jimin exhaled in relief, though his gaze quickly shifted to his phone, which was lying near the cat. He rushed to the table, frantically checking the screen.
Y/n laughed at his panic.
“Jimin, last time you thought something was haunting your phone, it was just our kitty acting out. This is the same. The apartment isn’t haunted.”“But, Y/n, I *saw*—" Jimin began, but Y/n silenced him with a wave of her hand.
“I don’t want to hear it. I’m not taking leave from work tomorrow, and our picnic is cancelled if you keep this up,” she said sternly, before retreating back to her room.“Fine, I don’t need the amusement park anyway,” Jimin sighed, setting his phone back on the table.
“What I saw... those words... I won’t forget. It’s like someone hacked my phone to tell me about the case,” he whispered to himself before collapsing onto his bed, his eyelids growing heavy with exhaustion.Meanwhile, back in her room, Y/n sat on her bed, staring at a photo of their parents.
“I hope you two are okay in heaven. Mom, Dad, it’s been a year since you left us. Jimin is scared, and I don’t know what’s happening to us lately. Strange things keep happening...” A single tear rolled down her cheek as she spoke softly into the quiet night. Her cat padded in with a soft purr, curling up against her legs. Y/n wiped her tears and picked up the fluffy feline, placing it beside her on the bed. The cat playfully swatted its tail as Y/n stroked it gently.
“Aww, kitty, you’re not sleepy yet?” she asked with a soft smile.
“Meow,” the cat responded, earning a chuckle from Y/n.She turned off the lamp and settled into bed, covering herself and the cat with the blanket. But soon, the cat wriggled free, slipping out of the room and leaving Y/n to sigh tiredly. Closing her eyes, she tried to drift off to sleep, her mind still reeling from Jimin’s strange behavior.
From a distance, Taehyung watched with a soft smile as Y/n finally fell into a peaceful slumber, her soft snores filling the room.
