TW: use of the word 'fag', divorce, fighting both physically and whit words, talking bad about themselves.

Lily POV: 

"Lily darling wake up, it's first day off school" dad says stroking my back 

"No I don't want to" I groan and pull the duvet over my head 

"You need to, you can choose what we have for dinner" dad says, pulling the duvet off my head 

"Fine, I want pasta with chicken on the side,  only seasoned with salt and pepper." I say

"I'll buy pasta on the way home" dad says smiling at me 

"I'll go start on breakfast, your uniform is hanging in the bathroom" dad says standing up from the bed.

I stay in bed just staring at the ceiling, thinking. I do not have the best time in school, no one bullies me but not many wants to be friends with me. I do have three best friends, but one of them goes to Truham, Alex, and one is moving away to another city, Olivia. But Emily still goes to Higgs with me, I'm so thankful for that. 

I eventually get up, and walk into the bathroom. 

I put on my uniform and brush my hair, I put it up in a high ponytail, a sort of slick back but whit no products in it.

I put on mascara and three earrings in each ear, I have three holes. 

I make sure I have everything in my school bag, I packed it yesterday but I know I'm gonna check it a million times before I leave for school today 

"Come on Lily, we can't be late on the first day" dad yells from down stairs 

"I'm literally walking down the stairs!" I yell back annoyed 

"Here" dad says handing me a slice of toast 

"I'm not hungry" I say putting it down 

"You sure?" Dad asks concern 

"It's just nerves" I lie

"It's gonna be Okay, you still have Emily, right?" he says pulling me into a hug, him and papa know everything about my school situation 

" yes I do" I say hugging him back, everyone always says papa gives the best hugs but I think dad gives the best hugs, papa agrees with me

"What about if you invite Emily and Alex over for a film Nick" dad suggests 

"Did you really just say film nick?" I ask looking up at him

"I meant film night" dad says looking a little sad

"Okay dad, whatever you say" I pat him on the back then sit down at the couch and text my friend's 

"Hey dad" Adrian says walking into the kitchen. Jack is walking beside him, holding Adrian's hand and looking very nervous.

"Hey Adrian hey Jack" dad says handing them a piece of toast each

"Is something wrong Jack?" Papa asks walking into the kitchen 

"Just nervous about school, kinda scared to be honest" he says 

"Why?" Dad asks him

"I used to get bullied for acting gay or something" Jack says looking down and fiddling with his hands 

"Oh Jack I'm so so sorry that happened to you! Do you want us to contact the school?" Dad asks him, I know he got bullied but I don't  know to what extent 

"No, the guys that bullied me are going to uni this year. So I'll see how it goes." Jack says nervously 

"Okay" dad says smiling comfortingly at him
