Zahra had barely managed to sit when the door creaked open once again. Two of Gabriel’s men entered silently, their imposing figures casting long shadows on the walls. They carried a tray of food and placed it on the small table without a word, their presence chilling, almost mechanical. One of them glanced at her, his eyes cold, as if he were looking at an object rather than a person. Zahra’s stomach churned, the reality of her isolation tightening its grip around her chest.
When they left, the sound of the lock turning was louder than before, reverberating in the silence of the room. She looked at the untouched food, her appetite long gone, consumed by the dread that now gnawed at her from within.
Hours passed like this, the weight of the situation pressing down on her. But as the clock ticked, Zahra's resolve wavered. Gabriel was playing a cruel game, one where every moment of isolation chipped away at her defenses.
Suddenly, the door swung open, and Gabriel strode in, his dark silhouette framed by the dim hallway light. This time, there was no pretense of civility in his demeanor. He stood there, his gaze fixed on her, sharp and unyielding.
He held up a thin stack of papers, his fingers tapping them impatiently. “Zahra,” he said, his voice low and menacing, “Do you know what this is?”
She swallowed hard, her throat dry. She didn’t respond.
“This,” he continued, stepping closer, “is your life on paper. Your company, your assets, everything. I’ve had my men dig up every single detail.”
He tossed the documents on the table in front of her, the sound of paper slapping against wood breaking the silence.
“I own you now,” Gabriel said, his voice dropping to a chilling whisper. “Your future, your company, your freedom they’re all mine unless you comply. Do you understand?”
Zahra’s hands balled into fists, trembling with a mixture of rage and fear. She tried to steady herself, to find a way out of this nightmare, but every path seemed blocked by Gabriel’s growing shadow.
His smirk deepened as he leaned in closer, his breath warm against her ear. “You have no options, Zahra. I will break you down, bit by bit, until you realize there’s no escaping me.”
She flinched at the closeness, her mind screaming to run, to fight back. But her body remained frozen in place.
With a deliberate slowness, Gabriel walked to the window, staring out at the vast emptiness beyond. “Tomorrow,” he said softly, his voice like ice, “we will solidify your future. Whether you like it or not.”
He turned to face her again, the light catching the sharpness of his expression. “You should get some rest. The next time you leave this room, it will be to stand beside me as my wife.”
Zahra’s heart raced, the air around her suffocating, but Gabriel seemed indifferent to her terror. He stepped back towards the door, his cold gaze lingering on her for a moment longer before he left.
When the door shut behind him, the lock clicked into place once more. Zahra was alone again, trapped in the growing darkness of the room, her thoughts swirling with fear, desperation, and a flicker of fury that Gabriel didn’t see coming.
The silence that followed Gabriel’s exit was suffocating. Zahra paced the room, her thoughts spiraling out of control. Every corner of her mind was filled with the enormity of her situation. The papers on the table stared back at her, a cruel reminder of what Gabriel had claimed as his own everything.
Her phone, long taken from her, left her isolated from the world outside. She had no way of contacting anyone. No way of pleading for help. Gabriel’s hold on her wasn’t just physical it was mental. The knowledge that he had power over her life, her company, her very existence, was like a chain around her neck.
