chapter 11 - Nobara.

i knew.

i knew that they loved eachother. i knew that their love was more than a silly little crush. i knew that the world in their eyes consisted of only eachother. which meant i also knew i was getting left behind. i mean look at me. my best friend is a girl older than me. in a whole other grade. im lucky this isnt normal schooling.
"Nobara? are you okay?" Maki asked.
"yeah. im fine." i muttered. she sighed and sat down on my bed with me.
"it's about the boys, isn't it?" she asked, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"... yes." i felt my eyes start to water. i placed my hands on mu knees and looked up at the ceiling.
"Nobara... you need to talk to them. they're idiots, sure. but they'll understand." she reassured.
"but i don't want to ruin what they have. i dont want them to hold back because of me, but i also want them to at the same time." i explained. i could feel myself starting to cry. Maki wrapped an arm around my shoulder.
    "just, talk to them, okay?" she sighed.
    "okay..."
    "now we need to get to bed. its like 10pm." she stated.
    "can we have a sleepover tonight?" i muttered. she laughed.
    "after what happened the other night? no way. not in a single bed. come help me push my bed next to yours." she smiled. i smiled back and nodded at her.

i woke up cuddling up to Maki.
    "morning sleeping beauty." she laughed.
    "huh... what time is it?" i asked groggily.
    "11am. im surprised you didnt wake up earlier, Itadori's been spamming your phone all morning." she said.
    "he has?"
    "yep." she said, passing me my phone. i sat up and looked at Itadori's messages.

I sighed.
"what's up?" Maki asked.
"Itadori and Fushiguro invited me to hang out with him, and im happy ive been invited, but im also... not ready? god, i dont know." i breathed. she pulled me into a hug.
    "it'll be good for you. and them. you's need this, as much as you may deny it and as much as those stupid boys may not know it. it'll help all three of you's." she said, face into my hair.
"yeah... okay. thanks Maki."
"of course." she let go of me and stepped back.

    "so... Kugisaki... whats uh... whats going on with you and Maki?" Itadori asked.
    "... you seriously invited me over to ask what my relationship with Maki is?" I asked.
    "no! i just wanted to know. we invited you over because one, we have to tell you something, and two, i wanna play mario kart with you."
    "right, okay well I really like Maki but I don't know if she likes me back. I'm fairly sure she likes thatt Yuta guy." I explained.
    "sorry to hear that." Fushiguro commented.
    "yeah, im sorry as well."
    "its fine, now what did you want to tell me?" I asked.
    "well now I feel like I should wait..." Itadori said.
    "just tell her." Fushiguro said.
    "I agree with Fushiguro."
    "well... I dont wanna sound rude now that you just confessed how you feel about Maki, but Megumi and I are dating..." he said hesitantly. we stayed silent for abour 30 seconds before I said.
    "I already knew. but congrats."
    "WHAT." Itadori yelled.
    "jeez, shut up. it was obvious."
    "told you, dumbass." Fushiguro said.
"oh okay, I thought I was gonna surprise you." he sulked. Fushiguro slapped him on the head.
"I actually am happy for you guys, but if you guys start to make me third wheel or leave me out im killing you both." I said. I mentally cursed myself for saying that out loud, but I guess its out now.
"huh? why would we leave you out Kugisaki? your also our best friend." Itadori said.
"Yuji's right, just because we're dating doesn't mean we're gonna make you third wheel or forget about you Kugisaki." Fushiguro added.
"awww, I love you guys." I smiled.
"I love you too!" Itadori hugged me.
"yeah.. love you too i guess." Fushiguro said.
"okay, sappy stuff aside, lets play mario kart. I wanna beat your asses." I said.
"oh HELL no, I'm gonna beat your ass." Itadori said.
"you guys can play, I'm really tired." Fushiguro said.
"huh, okay." I said.

Itadori and I played mario kart and minecraft for a few hours, before I decided I wanted to go back to Maki. it was nice hearing that I'm their best friend, I just hope they keep their word to it. I opened the door to my room, and Maki was sitting there on the bed, presumably waiting for me.
    "so, how was it?" she asked.
    "it was good, they told their dating, and i told them i already knew and that they cant leave me, then Itadori and I played mario kart and minecraft while Fushiguro fell asleep. im also pretty sure they had sex last night." I said.
    "WHAT?" she laughed.
    "oh my god, it's not a surprise but it is at the same time!"
    "i know right?!" I exclaimed. she calmed herself down.
    "anyways, Nobara, I need to tell you something." she said, more serious now.
    "uh... okay." i hesitated.
    "sit down, please." I sat down next to her.
    "I actually organised for you to go hangout with Itadori and Fushiguro today. and it wasn't because I was sick of you or anything, so dont start thinking like that." she looked at me and softly, and almost... lovingly smiled.
    "it's quite the opposite. Nobara, I told them to invite you over so I could get help with a problem I have."
    "why didn't you just ask me for help?" I asked.
    "because, you weren't the person I needed. you see, I really like this girl, she's so sweet and pretty and amazing, she's so amazing she's got me talking and acting soft." Maki laughed. oh. I felt my heart drop to my stomach. why wasn't I the right person? does she know I like her?
    "anyways. while you where out, I called Shoko and asked her for help. and she told me that I should just tell this girl. and so here I am, telling the girl I like that I like her." she paused, and looked over at me. me.
    "me... you like... me?" I asked.
    "sure do."
