Katherine's POV

"Shelby?" I asked in a soft voice as I saw her crying on the floor in the abandoned girl's locker room. "Shelby it's me Katherine" I sat next to her wrapping one arm around her shoulder. Usually she pushes me away but she leaned into me nuzzling her head into my chest. I could feel her body shaking and her tail wrapping around me.

"I got you Shelby" Without thinking, mainly not caring I kissed the top of her head and took my free hand and lightly scratched her head. "I won't let go"

"H-how did you find me here?" She hiccuped.

"Gem saw you rush in here. She tried to follow you but growled at her. What happened?" My voice was still soft, she let out a soft whimper. She lifted her arm, up showing some fresh cuts. My heart skipped a beat a little seeing those.

"Give it to me Shelby. Drop it in my lap" I tell her in firm but calm voice. Opening her hand, a small blade fell in my lap. I grabbed the blade and put it in a pencil case and into my bag.

"I'm sorry Katherine. I'm sorry. I hurt so much and maybe if I did it the pain would go away and-" I grabbed her chin between my fingers slowly lifting her head giving her a kiss on the forehead. Her golden eyes looked into mine.

"Don't ever do that again Shelby. I can't imagine my life without you in it. You are the most precious person to me and I will do anything to help you" I whisper. "You are loved by our friends, your brother, and me. I know losing your grandmother was hard on you and Joey being away but you have us, you have me. You will never be alone"

Shelby cried again, this time she curled up into my lap wrapped both her arms around me hugging me tightly. Her head was tucked underneath my chin. My arms were wrapped around her holding close making her feel safe and secure. She mumbled a soft 'thank you' before falling asleep on me. Carefully standing up, holding her bridal style, I grabbed both our bags and carried her out the backdoor that lead to the woods which lead to my house.

Now you may be thinking, how can i carry her and bags filled with heavy books? Well as a monster slayer, you get plenty of exercise while swinging a giant battle axe and sword, holding a huge shield and using a powerful bow she light as a feather. At first my parents were against it but they warmed up to it as long as I come home. My parents are the most supportive king and queen ever, they actually go out and physically help people in need, during winter they open the castle to the homeless until spring. They do keep important items and documents locked up in a safe that's locked in a room where only we can open. Walking up to GlimmerGrove, a knight walked open the door for me, I nod my head in appreciation and walked inside to see my mother talking with Sausage. They see me and whispered seeing Shelby asleep. Giving them a small smile I walked up the stairs to my room. For once I'm glad I left my door. I walked to my bed and carefully laid her down and removed her shoes and jacket. Then I went to the bathroom to grab a bandage and healing potion for her. Walking back to her, I rubbed some of the healing potion on her wrists and wrapped them up. Once I was done, I covered her with a blanket. She stirred around and opened her eyes.

"Hey sleepy pup, did you sleep well?" I asked sitting on the edge next to her.

"Yeah, how did we get here?" She asked.

"I carried you all the way from school to my house while you were sleeping" I tell her. Her ears twitched around. "Shelby what's-" she kissed me. I held her face with one hand and put the other on her waist. Slowly pulling away, our foreheads touched

"I love you princess" she whispered.

"And I love you my lil pup" I whispered
