Rylen:

I parked my car but didn't stop the engine, I'm waiting for Nick to come. We planned to go out for lunch, actually I was just joking about it today because I know Nicole has been busy with her first week of class.

~Hey...what are you doing today?

~What?

~😆 Someone's not in a good mood today.

~🤨

~Is this about when I cancelled our last outing?
~I said, it was urgent and I'm sorry.

~So what? 😔

~Are you sure you are not coming?
~Well...I have no choice then. I already made an appointment for two people, I guess I need to eat the steak for two people for lunch today.
~😟

~What???
~Steak???
~Why don't you just say so? 🤗
~I'm kidding, Ry. I'm on my way, just sent me the location.

Nicole never declines food as far as I know her this past month. It makes me feel great when someone appreciates food as much as I do.

As I wait in my car, Nicole calls and I pick up almost immediately.

"I'm here. Look to the left." Nicole says, I turn to the side and I see her park right next to my car. I roll down my window, wave energetically, and smile at her, but Nicole shakes her head before ending the call. I chuckle as I finally stop the engine and get out of the car.

Nicole glances at me standing next to her car before she collects her bag and pushes the door. She gives me a weird look as soon as she slams her car door and approaches me.

"What?" She squirts her eyes, looking at me suspiciously. I shake my head.

"Shall we?" My head lifts towards the entrance of the steak house. I move aside so that Nicole can walk past me and I match her paces as she walks. She is a little bit quieter than usual and I know what the cause is.

"Is this place really good?" Nicole asks as soon as we take our table, but she is not looking at me straight, her eyes dance unfocused towards the surroundings. I hide a smile as she tries to initiate a conversation.

"I can vouch for that, their steak is amazing. I know the chef had been winning a few cooking competitions. I can guarantee you won't regret dining here, Nick." I answered and intentionally said her name was slow.

Nicole looks at me, there is a hint of fretting in her eyes as she stares at me. She let out a long breath, I take it as a hint she is about to say something and I cut her first.

"I know, I know. I'm sorry, it's my fault." I say, return her gaze and she frowns. "I'm sorry I didn't come for our last outing. I'm sorry I canceled our plan. I deserve your punishment because I am a jerk." I add before Nicole could say anything, my eyes dig deeper. "Can you please forgive me, Nick?"

Nicole sighs, looks away from me and her face falls onto her palms. I suddenly feel uncomfortable in my seat, she must be very angry about me not showing up. I was about to touch her shoulder when she looked up at me. I freeze, her eyes soften.

"Then, you should have called." She pauses and I don't know what to say. "I thought maybe something bad happened or you were in an accident. I was..." Nicole sighs before continuing, "...worried."

My mouth opened when she said it, that was why. I was so occupied that I forgot to call or message her back after cancelling our plan. So stupid of me, I make her worry.
