Sebastian, a demon bound by a contract to serve as Ciel's butler, entered his master's private office with the quiet grace of a predator. His eyes scanned the room, taking in every detail, before setting a delicate tea tray on the desk. The smell of freshly brewed tea filled the air, mixing with the faint scent of ink and paper.
"Young Master, your tea," Sebastian announced, placing the tray before Ciel. The young Earl was fixated on a letter from his upcoming bride, his expression unreadable.
"Is something troubling you, Young Master?" Sebastian finally broke the silence, his voice smooth as silk.
"It's Elizabeth. She's visiting soon and bringing a friend," Ciel replied, his tone betraying a hint of worry.
"Who is this friend, Young Master?"
"Baroness Amberly – Madeleine Amberly."
The name caused Sebastian to pause, memories rushing back to him like a tidal wave. Twelve years ago, he had served the Amberly family – specifically Anne Amberly, the matriarch who had summoned him after her husband's passing. In their time together, they shared more than just a contractual bond – they shared a physical one as well. But when her grief had subsided and she was at peace, Sebastian claimed her soul. Her daughter was only five at the time.
As he remembered that fateful night, Sebastian couldn't help but feel a twinge of emotion for the first time in centuries. He had stayed with the young girl, comforting her in her loss and trying to impart some wisdom before leaving with her mother's soul.
But these thoughts he kept to himself as he said nothing to Ciel. With a dismissive wave of his hand, Ciel signaled for Sebastian to leave.
Weeks passed until finally, it was time for the reunion between Anne Amberly's child and Sebastian. A grand carriage bearing the Amberly family crest arrived at the Phantomhive Manor, greeted by Ciel and Sebastian at the entrance. The staff stood to the side, watching with curiosity as the footman opened the carriage door.
A blonde girl rushed out, her excitement palpable as she threw herself into Ciel's arms.
"Oh, Ciel! I've missed you so much!" she exclaimed, her voice full of energy.
"Elizabeth, please," Ciel said, attempting to temper her enthusiasm.
His eyes then shifted to the second figure inside the carriage – a beautiful brunette whose hair cascaded in the wind as she stepped out gracefully. Sebastian's eyes widened in surprise as he took in her appearance – the young girl he once knew had blossomed into a woman of stature and elegance. She folded her hands gently at her waist and addressed Ciel with confidence and authority.
"Earl Phantomhive," she greeted him with a smile that could rival the sun itself. He bowed in respect to her – a noblewoman closely connected to the Queen herself. And yet, when her gaze turned to Sebastian, there was a hint of familiarity in her expression.
"Sebastian," she acknowledged him softly, bowing her head before making her way inside with Ciel and Elizabeth following behind. As they entered, Sebastian couldn't help but feel a pang of nostalgia and curiosity about what this reunion would bring.
