A week has passed, and Ahyeon is still being ignored by Rora. He deliberately leaves for work earlier and, as soon as he returns, locks himself in his room. Ahyeon tries to start a conversation, but Rora only speaks when necessary. This morning, they ran into each other outside the room, and Rora simply told Ahyeon that he was going to play golf with Rami and Minji.
"Thanks, Rami and Minji. I won’t forget what you’ve done for me," Rora said.
"It’s no big deal, Rora. Besides, I’m off today, so I could take you here," Minji replied.
"But Rora, you look so handsome when you’re all dressed up like this. You outshine that arrogant Ruka. Your face is way more handsome than him, you just didn’t know how to style yourself before," Rami said, laughing.
"Yeah, our friend is willing to do all this just to win his wife’s heart," Minji added.
"It must be Hyein who told you this, right?" Rora asked.
"Yes, my girlfriend shared the issue about my future brother-in-law, so as the best possible future brother-in-law, I’m just doing my part," Minji responded.
"You’re just saying that Minji because you want Rora to treat you to a meal, aren’t you?" Rami joked.
"I’m not asking, but if he’s willing, I won’t turn it down," Minji replied.
"Big eater that’s you, Minji," Rami added.
"Yeah, I am a big eater, but you can join in too, right?" Minji said.
"Alright, alright. I’ll treat you both to a meal. Let’s go," Rora said.
"Hey, tell me, how’s your marriage with Rora now? You used to hate seeing his face, and now you’re almost half a year into your marriage with him, right?" Pharita asked.
"I don’t know, at first, I never imagined being his wife, but so far, living with him, I can accept him as a housemate who truly understands me," Ahyeon replied.
"Housemate? Really? I’ve never seen you this happy when you were with Ruka before. Back then, you always fought because of Ruka’s playboy attitude and childish behavior, right?" Pharita asked again.
Ahyeon smiled at her friend’s words. She admitted that she felt calmer, safer, and more protected with Rora compared to Ruka.
"Look at you, smiling now. I feel like you’ve already fallen for him. You should admit it quickly," Pharita said.
"Falling in love with him is still too soon, Rita. But yes, I do like the way he treats me as a woman. He respects me, he understands me, and most importantly, he cares and is sweet," Ahyeon replied.
"Sweet? How so?" Pharita asked.
"Well, his small gestures can really touch my heart. He sends me flowers, he brings me my favorite food when he knows I’m busy and forgot to eat. He’s such a perfect human being," Ahyeon said, praising her husband.
"But don’t forget, there’s no such thing as a perfect human being. He’s still a normal man. He has feelings and pride. So, you should take care of those," Pharita advised.
"I’m trying, okay, Rita. I’m just like him, a normal person. I don’t want to rush into falling in love with him. I want my feelings for him to develop because of him, not because I’m lonely or can’t tell him apart from Ruka," Ahyeon replied.
"I want to ask you, if Ruka comes back to you, would you take him back? Or would you prefer to continue your happy marriage with Rora?" Pharita asked.
"Actually, babe, yesterday I asked for my rights as his wife, but he refused because he’s afraid my heart is still tied to Ruka. I’ve started liking him, which is why I try to make him happy. I try to seduce him, but he doesn’t respond at all. He always avoids getting too close with me. If he gave me a chance, I could try to forget Ruka for him. But right now, he’s not helping at all," Ahyeon said.
"Well, if you ask like that without giving him any assurance about your true feelings, he’ll feel used. He’ll think he’s just a replacement for Ruka. You shouldn’t make him think like that. You need to be honest that you want to start a new life together without any involvement of Ruka in your relationship," Pharita advised.
"I’m not sure, Rita. Deep down, I still have feelings for Ruka. You know, Ruka and I weren’t just a couple for a short time, even though he’s a womanizer, he still asked me to marry him and took me to meet his parents in the first place. Plus, he’s more charming than Rora. You see Rora? When it comes to style and looks, he’s like night and day compared to Ruka," Ahyeon laughed.
"I know, Ahyeon. I’ll never reach your standards. I’m not on the same level as Ruka when it comes to style and looks. Thanks for being honest about me to your friend. At least now I know something I never expected to hear from you," Rora said, suddenly standing behind Ahyeon.
Both Pharita and Ahyeon were shocked by Rora’s sudden appearance.
"Rora, what are you doing here?" Ahyeon asked.
"Why? Is it because this place isn’t mine?" Rora asked.
"No, that’s not what I meant. You said you were going to the golf club. I was just surprised because you suddenly appeared behind me," Ahyeon replied.
"I’m glad I came here and heard everything you had to say," Rora said.
"Enough, Rami. I’m not in the mood to eat. If you want to stay, you can, but if you want to follow me, let’s go now," Rora said.
"Rora, you’ve misunderstood," Ahyeon said as she tried to chase after him, leaving the fancy restaurant.
"I think we need to talk about what just happened. Here’s my business card. I’m sorry, but I have to take my friends back. He’s upset right now," Rami said, offering his card and leaving with Pharita.
"I’m sorry, Ahyeon. But Rora’s heart is hurt. Whatever the situation it is, you have to give him space to calm down, then you two can talk about what happened earlier at home. Perhaps you have an explanation that he’ll accept," Rami said as he left.
"I’m sorry, Ahyeon, if I hadn’t asked you about Ruka, this misunderstanding wouldn’t have happened," Pharita said, trying to comfort her friend.
Ahyeon stared at Rora’s departure. Why did he prefer to make conclusions on his own without talking to her first? To Ahyeon, sometimes Rora seemed too self-centered, putting all the blame on her.
"You’ve shown me that I never had a place in your heart."
