If I may, I'd like to ask an interesting question, and I want you to think about the answer carefully.
Are all people equal?
These days, everywhere you go, there's talk about the fight for equality. People calling for men and women to be to be treated equally and shouting for soc-
Shut up, you've thought about that question far too many times.
Huh? I can only remember doing that one or twice.
I'm talking about... no, forget it, never mind.
Regardless,
I'm currently heading to my new school on bus, guiltily looking away from the situation unfolding at the front of the bus.
An old woman standing in front of me is swaying back and forth while holding onto the buses railing, looking as if she may fall over at any moment.
I made a mistake by taking the bus.
"Um, excuse me. Don't you think you should give up your seat?"
A young, well-built, blonde-haired student was sitting in the priority seating. The one speaking was a young girl with short beige hair.
"That's a real crazy question, lady."
The boy, with a mirror in hand, crossed his legs and, without bothering to look up at her, then stated.
"Why should I give this seat to an old woman? There's absolutely no reason for me to do so."
"Well, you're sitting in a priority seat, so isn't it only natural to give it up to the elderly?"
"I dont understand. Priority seats are just that priority seats. There is no legal obligation for me to move. Whether or not I move should be decided by me, who is sitting in this seat. Would you give your seat up to a young man like myself? Hahaha, that's such a stupid way of thinking."
He spoke in a manner that you wouldn't expect from a high school student.
"Certainly standing up wouldn't inconvenience me much. However, standing up obviously consumes more physical strength than sitting down would. I don't want to do such a useless thing. Or maybe, are you trying to tell me to be more lively or energetic?"
"No, I just think that, while it may not be any of your concern, it would be a good contribution to society."
"Contributing to society, you say? I see, that's an inter-"
"Excuse me, you can have my seat. Sorry I didn't give you it sooner."
Most people on the bus turned towards me, probably glad that I was solving the granny issue.
"Oh, there was no need to apologize, young man. I'm just glad someone gave up their seat at all. Thank you. "
"It was no problem at all."
I sighed internally and gripped onto the railing.
Did you really need to get involved with that? I didn't want to attract more attention than necessary.
It's a good opportunity to talk to that beige haired girl. Besides, if you really wanted to avoid attention, then why were you intentionally going to score all 50's on the entrance exam? You may of not known what the average was, but it should be obvious getting 50 in every subject would stand out.
That was something that only the teachers would see, so it wouldn't matter much. But just try not to do anything that makes me stand out much.
Hahaha, no promises, and look, she's coming over.
