Maggie
We were just at home when I saw a figure running towards the house. I walked outside to see a man holding what looked to be a child. I called my father Hershell out.
"He bit?" He asked.
The man replied "Shot. By your man."
We hurried inside as my dad yelled at us to get IV bags, clean sheets, painkillers and his medical equipment.
As we lied the boy down, another man ran inside with an unconscious girl who looked to be the same age as the boy. She had been shot in her shoulder.
The bullet had gone straight through, but she was bleeding a lot. She was going in and out of consciousness. I disinfected and cleaned her wound as she cried. Poor kid is so young.
Both of them were passed out now. My dad was working on them.
"Your kids-" my dad said.
"Yes my kids." Rick said as a small smile grew on his face. (awww ik 🥺)
"Well your kids are losing a lot of blood. Your son is continuing to bleed as your daughter, has already lost most of what she will lose, but if the bleeding doesn't slow I'm not sure what we can do. Do you know their blood types?" My father asked.
"Well my son has my blood type. My my- dau- daughter... she is an AB positive. She can receive any blood type."
"I know what an AB positive is son." My father said, "Maggie go find these kids mother."
I nodded and followed his orders.
I walked outside and hopped on a horse and rode around until I heard some yelling. There was a small group of people getting attacked by one of those things. I hit it in the head with my bat. "Hey I'm Maggie, you need to come back with me. It's for some folks named Carl, Rick, and Grace." The brown haired woman looked scared as I helped her onto the horse.
"Who are you?" She asked.
"I'm Maggie, Maggie Greene." I replied.
"I'm Lori. The boy Carl's mom..." she said.
"Well Lori, we'd best hurry back. Carl and Grace are injured." I said.
"What?!" Lori screamed at me.
"Now hush you don't wanna awaken every creature near." I said.
"They've been shot Lori. It was an accident. From what we've heard the two kids, one standing and one kneeling were looking at a deer. It was the same deer that one of our men had gone to hunt. He didn't see the kids and he shot. The bullet went through the deer, through the girls shoulder, and into your sons stomach."
"Is he okay? Is she alive?" She shouted.
"Well they were alive when I left." I said.
I told her how we're going to need to remove the bullet fragments from Carl. And that she may need to give some of her blood to the girl.
Lori ran into the house and saw the kids in the bloody bed.
"Are you the children's mother?" My father asked.
"Yes the boy is my son and the girl... well now she's my daughter." She said.
"Okay what's your name?" My father asked.
"Lori." She said.
"Okay Lori I'm going to need you and your husband to sit down, drink some water too. We need your blood to give to the kids, it's going to keep them alive."
