On the way back home, the car hummed softly as the night enveloped them. Ragini felt her eyelids growing heavy, the day's excitement catching up with her. Before she knew it, her head gently fell against Karanveer's shoulder.
He noticed her sleepy state and adjusted his seat, making sure she was comfortable. As he glanced down at her, a smile tugged at his lips. He couldn't help but caress her cheek tenderly, feeling a rush of affection.
In a hushed tone, he whispered, "I think I'm falling in love with you, Ragini."
Ragini's heart raced at his words, and for a moment, she was torn between the urge to respond and the instinct to remain quiet. She tried to slow her breathing, hoping he wouldn't realize she was awake, but the flutter in her chest betrayed her.
As she sank deeper into a dreamlike state, the warmth of his confession wrapped around her like a comforting blanket. She felt herself drifting off again, caught in a swirl of emotions—happiness, confusion, and fear of the future ahead.

A week had passed since the night of Karanveer's birthday, and the once blossoming warmth between him and Ragini was now growing into distance.
Ragini had been avoiding him ever since that kiss and the confession that followed. Her mind was a whirlwind of "what-ifs" and doubts. She feared that whatever had begun between them wouldn't last. She feared she couldn't give herself fully, not again.
Since Karanveer's accident, everything between them had changed for the better. They had grown closer, but there was never this looming question of love. Now, with his feelings laid bare, everything felt more complicated. She could see how much he was growing emotionally dependent on her, how deeply he loved her. And yet, she didn't know if she could reciprocate those feelings.
Ragini had loved Laksh once, and that love had ended in heartbreak and destruction. She had sworn to never let herself be vulnerable again, to never let love blind her.
But now, here it was—right in front of her, within her grasp—and she wasn't sure if she was ready to take it.
She questioned whether she deserved it, whether she could ever love again with the same intensity.
On the other side, Karanveer was feeling frustrated and confused. He sensed the distance growing between them, and it hurt him deeply.
He feared that Ragini didn't like the pace at which they were heading. He realized how much had changed between them, and he knew it might be difficult for her to adjust. But the silence, the avoidance—it was making him restless.
His mind replayed that moment over and over again. He cursed himself for asking for that kiss. Maybe she wasn't ready for that level of intimacy, and he had pushed her too far. Maybe she didn't deny him because she didn't want to hurt him.
