Grace

We left the house, these places were never somewhere we spent the night. It was often the cars.

We did however need to find a place soon. Real soon. Lori was about to have a baby for Christ's sake.

We had been all around this area, and haven't found anything useful. We were going to leave.
But Daryl wanted to go on one last hunt.

"Can I bring Grace with me?" He asked Rick and Lori.

"Sure." Rick said

"Well I'm not so sure-" Lori said.
"Alright, fine. I guess she's pretty tough." She finished.

Daryl walked up to me and grabbed my arm gently and started walking off with me.

In this past, almost a year he's grown very close to me. He was like an older brother or uncle to me.

"Where we goin?" I asked

"I wanna get one last hunt in before we leave the area." He told me

"Why're you taking me?" I asked.

"Cause you're tough." He said.

"Not anymore." I muttered.

"Just cause your physical strength is down right now, doesn't mean you're not tough. Toughness is something in your mind too, lil badass." He said.

Lil Badass, that's what he called me.

"How can I get my physical strength back? I used to be stronger than Carl. Carl! Now if he poked me, I might fall flat on the ground." I said, sadly.

"Oh cmon. It's not that bad. First off ya gotta eat more. You can't worry about everyone else when they're being taken care of too. You also gotta do things to regain your strength. Sleep helps, so does some exercise. I know you get a lotta that. But maybe just focus on your arms first, or somethin." He told me.

"You're really smart Daryl." I pointed out.

"Listen, you catch something, it's yours. But the deal is you gotta have at least half of it before you do anything else with it." He told me.

I nodded.

I guess it didn't matter as much because he had that owl he killed the other day, so we still have some food for the group.

As we were walking I saw a small stream. And I saw a fish! A fish! I ran and grabbed it right out of the water.

I ran up to Daryl and showed him.

"How the-" he started, absolutely puzzled, "how did you do that?" He asked.

"I don't know. Human nature? I guess the hunger is starting to catch up to me. I got this crazy feelin' and I just grabbed it." I told him.

"Damn. It's a pretty big one too." He said in disbelief.

"Cmon, let's keep looking for more animals." I said eagerly.

"Fine. We cant go out too much farther or stay out much longer." He said.

We saw a crow up in the trees.

Daryl passed me the crossbow.

Crows didn't have much meat, and it was kind gross. So he didn't mind too much if I missed. Plus it was good practice.

I fired the arrow, and bullseye. Right in between the eyes! It fell off the tree and we heard a thump on the ground.

"Lil Badass, you are kicking it today!" Daryl shouted with joy.
