A/N kinda short one but there will be a part 2 (hopefully)

Travis stumbled through the front door, his vision clouded. His head was fuzzy with the number of drinks he had had that night, his chest warm.

"Trav?" Taylor's voice filtered in from the kitchen as she made her way into the hallway. As soon as she spotted him her face fell.
"Are you drunk?" She asked, and the look on his face said it all.
"Travis" she sighed, her voice laced with disappointment and hurt.
"What?" Travis slurred, annoyed. "I'm a grown man, I can do what I want"
"Travis, you promised" Taylor whispered.

Travis didn't answer, instead he just stumbled into the living room, chucking his stuff down into the floor. He turned around quickly glaring at Taylor.
"You're not my mother, stop being controlling!" He said angrily. Taylor crossed her arms, her gaze hardening.
"You said you were going to be better. You promised!" she shouted.

They stood across the room from eachother, their stances mirrored.
"Well I wanted to have a drink!" Travis yelled, taking a step forward.
"But it wasn't just a drink, was it?! You're drunk Travis!"
"Why the fuck do you care?! You're just my girlfriend, stop being so bossy!"

Taylor felt a pang of hurt at his words but pushed it away, replacing it with anger.
"WHAT THE FUCK DO I CARE TRAVIS? YOU SAID YOU'D GET BETTER! I WAS GOING TO HELP YOU!" she screamed, her voice raw. A beat of silence followed as she took a breath, preparing herself for what she was going to say next.

"After..." She started, her voice quiet. "After the accident, and after we lost... her..." Her voice broke as the emotions built up. "You promised Trav, please"

Another beat. Taylor thought for a second that Travis would realise what he was doing, that he'd apologise. However she thought too soon, and he stepped forward, lifting his hand up.

"DON'T TALK ABOUT HER!" He screamed, slamming his hand down on the table. The vase in the centre of the table toppled over from the force, rolling to the edge of the table and smashing all over the tiled floor.

Taylor flinched, jumping back as the glass scattered around her feet. Tears filled her eyes as she turned and ran out the room, scrambling up the stairs.

Travis was left alone in the middle of the room, his fists clenched. He had started to sober up due to the events of the evening, and as the adrenaline wore off he started to become more aware of his actions.

He stumbled over to the sofa, grabbing his phone and sitting down. Navigating to Jason's contact he pressed the call button, listening to the phone ring.

"Travis? It's late, why are you calling?" Jason picked up after the third ring, his voice thick from sleep.
"Jase? I messed up, like real bad" Travis sighed, his head in his hands.
"Are you drunk?" Jason asked, his tone slightly accusatory. The silence that followed told him all he needed to know, and he sighed.
"Travis, I thought you were getting better? I thought that after what happened you didn't want to drink anymore?" Jason's tone was slightly sympathetic, but Travis could also hear the disappointment in it.

"I... I don't know why I did it" Travis could feel tears building up behind his eyes, the stress and events of the night catching up to him. "Me and Tay had a fight over it, I upset her. She's crying... Upstairs I think" he sniffed, grabbing a tissue. "I feel terrible Jase, I scared her. And I yelled... Well, we both yelled. And I don't know what to do"

Jason nodded on the other end of the phone, thinking.
"Give her some space. Let her sleep on it, and in the morning- when you're sober- talk about it" he told him.
"Okay" Travis nodded.
"And make sure you apologise, a lot. And Travis, you need to try harder. For her, for yourself, for..." His sentence trailed off at the end, unsure if he should finish it.

"Thanks Jase" Travis nodded, wiping his eyes. He hung up the phone and grabbed the blanket from the other end of the sofa, deciding he was going to sleep there tonight and work it all out in the morning.
