Leo stared at the primordial for a moment, then shrugged. "Okay, spit it out."
Jason choked a little and glared at the son of Hephaestus, most likely mentally screaming at him for being so rude to an immensely powerful immortal being.
I agree, he is being rude.
Because that's my job!
"Hush, you ignorant little candle." Void glared (well, I assume he did) at Leo, who glared right back.
I cleared my throat.
"Guys, um, maybe don't have a fight right here?"
"Exactly my point, mortal. If you'll let me explain why you're here, you can leave."
Finally, everyone shut up.
Gods, was it that hard?
"The fates have finally noticed, after millennia of turning a blind eye, that Olympus is in shambles."
I snorted. "Newsflash."
Annabeth gave me a warning glare, and I shrank back.
She was scary.
"So, they've decided to remove the Olympians from power and replace them."
"And how, exactly, does this concern us?" Reyna asked, making some of us jump, as she hadn't spoken until now.
I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.
"Well, you're the replacements, of course."
"Hah? You're funny," Leo muttered, anxiety crossing his face. Everyone else was silent, waiting for the invisible cameras to be revealed, and the primordial to burst out laughing (I really hoped that he didn't, his laugh was ear-murdering) and tell us that it was all a prank.
Rather unsurprisingly, none of that happened.
"I was not joking, though?"
I hid my smile. Good Gods, he sounded like Zöe Nightshade. Glancing at Thalia's face, I could tell she was thinking that too, although when she noticed me looking she stuck her tongue out, flipped me off and turned away with a huff.
How elegant.
"Uh, what do you mean, you're not joking?" Jason asked, his expression matching Leo's.
"I do not enjoy repeating myself. Now, go to wherever you need to be. Get out of my domain."
"I think you mean, your dick."
"For the last time, Perseus Jackson, you are in my forearm! Not my genitalia!"
"Uh-huh."
"Out."
He waved a shadowy hand, and we were falling again.
Is this what Apollo felt like when he was tumbling from Olympus?
Hmm.
We hit a rather solid surface with a loud crash, and then an uproar of groans, swears, curses and arguing.
We really love each other, I swear.
I looked at my hands, desperately hoping that I was now flesh and bone.
"Goddamnit, I'm still a fucking marshmallow!" I snapped, moving my sluggish arms up in the air in annoyance.
Annabeth gave me a look of sympathy, while everyone else looked confused.
Well duh, they wouldn't understand.
Maybe Nico did.
He wasn't paying attention to me, though, seeming to be more focused on punching Thalia's face in.
