(Y/n)'s POV
Defence against the Dark Arts was about to start, and we all were seated already, Professor Lockhart cleared his throat, and grabbed Neville's copy of a book of his, I can't really say which one it was, something about a troll, I think.
"Me, Gilderoy Lockhart, Order of Merlin, Third Class, Honorary member of the Dark Force Defence League, and five times winner of Witch's Weekly's Most-Charming-Smile award, but I don't talk about that," I got confused, wasn't he doing that just now?
"I didn't get rid of the Banshee by smiling at her!" He showed his really white teeth, and waited for a few seconds, uh, was that a joke? Just in case, I laughed weakly, I didn't want him to feel bad, though I'm not really good at pretending it.
"I see you've all bought a complete set of my books, well done." I looked to the side and saw Hermione really excited with all of her books in a pile, looking directly at the Professor.
She loved books, but it was the first time I could see her fully absorbed into listening and looking at someone without having her book opened, it was interesting to say the least.
"I thought we'd start today with a little quiz. Nothing to worry about - just to check how well you've read them, how much you've taken in..." When those words left Professor Lockhart's mouth, I started to feel a little anxious.
I haven't read any of them, I fell asleep every time I tried to, and I couldn't cheat, either, just the thought of it made me sweat even more,
"You all right, (Y/n)?" Asked Ron, I looked at him, with a blank face, and said,
"Oh, it's nothing, I've already accepted my destiny..." He seemed weirded out, but laughed anyway. I had to convince myself to accept it, I didn't read the books, I was going to do very poorly in this.
When he handed out the papers and was finished, he yelled,
"You have thirty minutes. Start - now!"
I started to read the paper, already given up, and to say I was shocked was an understatement, but not in a good way, the quiz was full of questions about himself, which... told me more about himself than anything he said up this point, combined with how he talks.
Knowing anything I put would be wrong, I just left it blank, I-I mean, it was just a quiz to see our knowledge, no marks... right?
Half an hour passed, in which I fell asleep, until I felt the paper being removed from under my arms, I jumped and woke up, and saw a mildly annoyed Professor Lockhart, after the one millisecond stare, he went to his desk, in which he had all the other quizzes.
"Tut, tut - Hardly any of you remembered that my favourite colour is lilac. I say so in Year with a Yeti. And a few of you need to read Wanderings with Werewolves more carefully - I clearly state in chapter twelve that my ideal birthday gift would be harmony between-"
I really wasn't trying to be mean, but we came here to learn about defence methods, not hear him talk about himself, so I kind of zoned out, looking at nearby things that adorned the whole classroom, and from time to time got distracted by the noise of wings flickering, or at least I think that's what I heard, which was weird, because -
"Ahem!" I looked to the front, and saw Professor Lockhart staring at me holding a quiz, I had a bad feeling, surely that wouldn't be my own quiz-
"I see that you left your quiz blank, Mr..." He looked at the quiz " (L/n)" I was flustered, the whole class was looking at me now,
"U-Uh, y-yes, Professor, I-I didn't-"
"Ah well, understandable of course - it can be a bit overwhelming to capture the sheer brilliance and danger of my accomplishments, but you seriously couldn't remember my triumph against the Bandon Banshee? How I heroically defeated and discovered the werewolves' weaknesses?"
