The next morning, after a late but cozy night at Amira's house, they all gathered for breakfast. The sun was bright, spilling through the windows as Amara babbled on about her dreams from the night before, while Amir, still half-asleep, scrolled through his phone. Alejandro sat beside Amira, poking fun at Amir's groggy state and making Amira laugh.
"Hey, you know there's a team dinner tonight, right?" Alejandro mentioned casually, between bites. "Players, girlfriends, family — everyone's allowed to bring guests."
Amara's eyes lit up instantly. "Can I go?! I wanna go!"
Amir perked up a bit too. "Sounds fun. Maybe I could come too?"
Amira glanced at Alejandro, and he nodded with a smile. "Of course, you can come. The more, the merrier."
After breakfast, Alejandro headed home to get ready, leaving Amira to prepare for the evening with her siblings. She gave Amara a shower, carefully washed her hair, and then spent extra time brushing it and tying it into a neat little bun, topping it off with a sparkly headband. Amara twirled in her dress when she was ready, giggling with excitement.
"You look like a princess, Mara," Amira said, smiling at her sister in the mirror.
"Like Elsa?" Amara asked, beaming up at her.
"Even better than Elsa," Amira winked.
Once Amara was all set, Amira went to her room to get ready herself. She slipped into a sleek dress, simple yet elegant, and paired it with some heels. Her makeup was flawless, and her hair fell in soft waves down her back. Feeling confident, she decided to check on Amir before they left.
She walked down the hallway and knocked on Amir's door, pushing it open slightly. Inside, she found Alejandro already there, fixing his bowtie in front of the mirror. Amara was sitting on the edge of Amir's bed, glued to his phone, watching something on YouTube.
When Alejandro looked up and saw her standing in the doorway, he froze for a moment, his eyes unable to leave her. "Wow," he breathed, eyes scanning her with genuine admiration. "You look... incredible."
Amira felt a blush rise to her cheeks but smiled, stepping further into the room. "Thank you. You clean up pretty well yourself."
Alejandro smirked, adjusting his bowtie one last time. "Yeah, but it's hard to compete with you."
Amira laughed softly and moved to help Amara off the bed. "Alright, let's go. We don't want to be late."
They all piled into the car and drove to the team event. The venue was beautifully decorated, filled with warm lights and elegant tables, with many of the Barça players already there with their families. Amara spotted a few kids her age and immediately begged to go play with them. Alejandro laughed and waved her off, watching her run across the room.
Amir, meanwhile, found a group of teenagers his age and wandered off to chat with them. Still, every now and then, Amira noticed him sneaking glances at his phone, probably texting Lani. She chuckled to herself, thinking about how obvious it was, even though Amir would deny it.
As they found their table, Amira felt Alejandro's hand resting on her lower back, a familiar but comforting gesture. The event was lively, filled with laughter and conversation, but as they chatted, Amira noticed one of the waiters staring at her — a little too long for her comfort. She shifted awkwardly in her seat, trying to ignore it, but it didn't go unnoticed by Alejandro.
Without a word, Alejandro's hand slid to her hip and gave it a gentle squeeze. It wasn't aggressive, but it was firm enough to remind her that she wasn't alone. The warmth of his touch immediately reassured her, and she leaned in slightly, grateful for the subtle but protective gesture.
