"Gone on you must have all the details."

"Sarah I just want to enjoy my morning coffee." I groaned throwing my head back before looking at my co worker. Yes I was given a few days off but after what happened... I needed to be in the office.

"And your uncle was the officer on scene with Dave. You must know what happened."

"I know as much as you do. The gang got to him. And even if I knew more - which I don't," I quickly spat out seeing her open her nude shade coloured lips "I wouldn't be allowed to tell anyone. Private police matter you know.

"That's boring. He was our boss Nicky."

"Exactly the reason I don't know anything else, I didn't want any connections or reasons why he was targeted. I don't want to know any evidence or know what led them to shoot and carve him. He may of been an asshole but not to that extent."

She scrunched and pursed her lips at me seemingly going into a deep thought.

"You're hiding something." The fact I think it was meant to be me.

"I'm not going to say anything Sarah and that's final. I'm done talking about this, surely there's some work needing to be done instead of you trying to pry pointless and crap information out of me. When all you're going to do if I told you anything is twist and spread it."

Little known fact about Sarah, she's the office gossip however what she gossips about is a twisted truth. She's even caused office romances to split when twisting someone cheated on their partner. Turns out he was buying a wedding ring and the affair partner was his sister. That's why you tell her nothing. Zilch.

"Just go back to work." I sighed closing my eyes and rubbing my temples "our new boss should be here in at least an hour and I would rather not just be sitting her with no work done."

"God Nicky who died and made you boss." Sarah rolled her eyes.

"That's too soon Sarah." I know Dave was an ass but come on now, it's too far. "I'm just not in the mood Sarah. It's weird how many people I know have been murdered and I would rather not think about anything to do with it except my work."

"Oh fucks sake if it isn't my stalker." I fake smiled holding my hands in front of me as they walked into the office.

"Nicky," Calum nodded once patting his mate on the back. "This is Luke," he clapped his partner on the back quite loudly making stranger grimace.

"Pleasure," he muttered making me squint at him,

"The weirdo who bumped into me and didn't say sorry!" I had stared at him for a solid five minutes making him shuffle uncomfortably and roll his eyes before it clicked in my head where I recognised his voice from. "Knew your voice sounded familiar."

"And you say I'm a weirdo,"

"Mate you creeped me the fuck out and I'm a reporter, trained to remember pointless information,"

"So now I'm pointless?" His gaze turned into a glare making Calum grip his arm and shake his head.

"Honestly yes-,"

"Ok you two! Nicky Luke here is your new boss.."

"I'm sorry what? He looks my age."

"I am." He butted in,

"And how would you know that?" I recoiled slightly in shock at his words.

"I had to look up my employees files Miss Smith, it's quite obvious." He said before Calum even said anything as he had opened his mouth to butt back into our conversation.

"Of course," man I'm stupid, should of known that "this is unbelievable." I shook my head as Luke smirked.

"We'll be seeing a lot more of you Nicola,"

"Do not first name me even Dave didn't do that. What do we mean we?" I pointed a manicured finger at him "last I checked, thirty minutes ago there was one new people. Not two, one," I counted the two boys before crossing my arms.

"God how did Dave put up with you?" Luke sighed pinching the bridge of his nose looking down

"Because he needed a smartass on the team and that my friend is me," I gestured to myself bowing down slightly and fanning my hands out to the side.

"Package deal Nicky. I'm the main boss but when I can't get here for... reasons." He did a quick side glance to Calum before coughing twice and looking back at me "Calum here will be in the office. Two for one package deal, hire one get one free."

"Great got to put up with two creeps."

"Hey now," Calum finally spoke walking past me, his converse squeaking off the floor.

"You know this is a professional building?"

"Not when we're running this shit darling. Wear what you want. Now can we see our office?"

"They are both so so weird Kensie I don't get it." I was now sitting on the sofa in my safe space, my home ranting and rambling about my two new young adult bosses to anyone that would listen; sadly for Kensie, that was her.

"Dont be mean Nic," she shook her head, her half dyed hair shaking as she did before she brushed it all back from over her face.

"It's so true though, why is there no reason Luke can be at the office so we need Calum. This is his job, number one priority."

"The jobs not your number one-,"

"That's not important," I cut her off holding a hand up. "You didn't see the way they were, definitely giving off sketchy vibes for some reason. I have to figure out why."

"Always looking for stuff that isn't there like usual. One thing I like about you Nic,"

"You only like one thing?" I teased smiling softly making her chuckle softly. "You know I'm joking, I am incredible."

"So humble like usual, give them a chance Nicky, the worse thing they could have done in this city is murder someone and from how you've described them; don't think that's possible."
