When she arrived, she saw him personally cradling the child and playing with him. The three little ones were giggling and babbling happily, and she couldn't help but smile.

Children should grow up under the care of their parents.

"Indeed, like father, like son. After not seeing each other for so long, they are so close. I'm feeling a bit jealous," Bai Jingxian said, entering the room with a hint of playful acidity in her tone.

This was the first time Zhao Jinrui had seen her since she gave birth. Normally, after childbirth, women like the Empress or De Fei would gain a little weight, but she did not. Not only that but perhaps because she had given birth, her features had become even more exquisite. Her already beautiful face seemed even more captivating, with her eyes shimmering like tangible strands of allure.

He felt his heart skip a beat.

"My beloved consort has returned from paying respects to the Empress?" Zhao Jinrui steadied himself, handing the baby to the wet nurse before stepping forward to grasp her hand. "How is it that I've noticed my beloved consort has become even more beautiful?"

"Your Majesty." Bai Jingxian remained as delicate and alluring as before, but now she radiated an extra charm that was hard to resist.

Not only that, but her skin was unmatched among the palace's concubines, as smooth and radiant as jade.

"I'm not as good as Your Majesty says," she said, trying to withdraw her hand, aware that there were attendants in the room.

Seeing her shy demeanor made Zhao Jinrui swallow hard. "I've only spoken a fraction of how wonderful you are. There's so much more," he said, his hand starting to wander.

This sentiment explains Zhao Jinrui's current mindset.

In broad daylight, and in the children's room, Bai Jingxian wasn't in the mood for any mischief. "Your Majesty," she chided playfully, "the children are watching."

Unbeknownst to her, the attendants had already retreated, leaving only the three little ones making joyful noises, thoroughly ruining the atmosphere.

Reluctantly, Zhao Jinrui released her hand. "You little rascals, look at how you've embarrassed your mother," he said, turning his attention to the children.

The little ones thought the adults were playing with them and waved their tiny hands in response.

With the heated floor, the room was pleasantly warm. The three children were dressed lightly and were quite agile.

"Your Majesty, don't scold the children like that. What if they understand?" Bai Jingxian couldn't help but admire how childish he was, even going so far as to complain to the children.

She picked up her eldest son. "You little rascal, why are you awake so early today? Did you wake up and disturb your brothers?" She pinched his little nose, wearing a playful expression.

Zhao Jinrui looked puzzled. "Does he usually make a lot of noise?" With three sons, he truly couldn't tell who was who.

Only a mother could differentiate between her children.

"Of course! This little guy is quite domineering; if he's not sleeping, he won't let anyone else sleep either. As soon as he wakes up, he cries. If he doesn't hear his brothers crying, he'll cry even louder."

Zhao Jinrui chuckled. "He's rather clever."

Was there such a doting father?

Bai Jingxian shot him a glance. "Your Majesty," she teased, "you can't spoil him like this; be careful he doesn't turn into a tyrant."
