Chapter 26
My eyes widened with what he said. He looked agitated and couldn't wait to meet Castiel. Lumapit ako agad sa kanya.
"What do you mean? They found the culprit?" nag-aalala kong tanong.
That was fast. I expected months before anything would happen. Maybe the mastermind couldn't wait to lift a finger against me?
His eyes were dark and he shook his head. "Just some clues and details. But it can possibly lead us to whom we are looking for," he caressed my hand and squeezed it. "I need to go, babe." paalam niya ulit.
My brows furrowed. A sudden thud in my heart made me realize that I am starting to get nervous. "I'll come with you." I stepped closer again, trying to convince him.
He pursed his lips. "It might be dangerous. And this is your party, Cali. You cannot leave this event."
I bit my lower lip. Right.
I intently looked at him before I nodded heavily. "Just be careful," pagsuko ko.
He nodded at me. "I will. I'll meet him in Ronoua Headquarters, it's safe." he assured me.
I tried to smile at him but it looked weak. I know that he's gonna be fine. But I just couldn't help but worry. He is risking his safety for this. For me. To protect the people in the Hacienda.
"Call me when everything is discussed and settled."
"Yes. I'll see you tomorrow."
In a couple of seconds, he vanished from my sight. All throughout my event I couldn't help myself to focused. I was socializing but my mind was in the headquarters. I just wished I was there to hear it directly.
Until the event ended and I finally went home, my thoughts wouldn't put me to sleep. I was pacing back and forth in my living room, wearing my pajamas. My hair was in a messy ponytail because I tied it when I took a shower earlier.
I glanced at my phone on my hand. It's passed eleven in the evening.
I bit the tip of the nail of my index finger anxiously.
Another thirty minutes passed by at sobrang dami nang pumasok sa utak ko kakaisip. Hindi pa ba siya nakakauwi? They are already talking for four hours!
I was about to protest again when a call came.
"Cali," he called me but his tone was a little bit reserved.
I pressed my lips together before answering. Trying to calm my voice. "Rohen? How's the meeting?" and I succeeded. Ayokong isipin niya na sobrang apektado ko.
I heard him sighed. The beeping of signal light, wiper and heavy rain made me realize he's on his way home. Umuulan pala ng malakas? My curtains are all closed so I couldn't see the outside and my place was almost sound proof.
"We discussed a lot of possible leads. It took us hours, I forgot to update you. I'm sorry." He sounded so tired.
"N-No! It's okay! As long as everything's okay."
