I wake up and turn over to look at my alarm clock, it reads 8:50. I gasp and say to myself "I'm going to be late for my interview!"
Today is my interview for a job as a Junior Reporter on our towns local teen magazine "Teen Beat". I have been trying to get an interview on the magazine for a year, and I finally get one and now I'm gonna screw it up.
I jump out of bed and grab the outfit I had luckily picked out last night. I fishtail braid my hair off to the side, since I have no time to do anything with it, and grab my portfolio. I run downstairs and see nobody is home. I growl and grab an apple and run outside to my bike. I kick the kickstand and pedal quickly down the driveway.
I pedal faster than I ever thought possible. I see objects blur past me. And then I hear two people shouting. I hear one of the voices say "Im sick of you Luke! You act like such a 'got shot'!"
I hear a gun click. I hear another voice "Please David, you don't have to do this."
I pull my bike over behind 'Luke'. "Are you having a problems guys?" I ask politely.
"Get away girl." David growls
"Are you okay?" I say to Luke.
And then the next thing that happens plays out in slow motion. David takes his gun and aims it at Luke and fires, Luke ducks away just in time but then the bullet gets me right in my stomach. I scream and then the world goes black.

I wake up and I am staring up at a white ceiling with little sparkles in the plaster. I try to turn over and I realize I can't. So I begin to panic, I scream out but it only comes out as a loud whisper. I hear a chair scoot in across the room and a male voice yell for the nurses to get in here.
"Lena? Are you up now?" I hear an unfamiliar voice ask.
"What happened?" I ask in a very hoarse voice.
"Lena, you were in a coma for the past eleven months." The voice says. "I am Nurse Connie, I'm going to call your mother now sweetheart. Just stay awake. Luke make yourself useful and help her sit up. She's probably unable to move."
"Okay Connie." Jace says.
I feel a hand touch my lower and upper back. "Don't worry Lena we'll have you back to normal very soon. I just need you to stay strong for me, please." Jace whispers in my ear.
Jace helps me to get up into a sitting position. I look at him and he's very unrecognizable. He looks around my age. He has dark brown hair and has deep blue eyes, almost an indigo color, he looks to be around six feet tall and it very slender.
"Who are you?" I ask him once I see the nurse has left.
Jace face just drops as I say this. He's rubs his eyes and looks at me and says "You really don't remember me L?"
L. That nickname rings a bell. Setting of an emotion inside of me I cannot identify. I look up at him with sadness in my eyes "I honestly do not remember you I'm sorry." I tell him.
"I kinda figured this is what would happen. I mean you were in a coma for months, I don't know why I expected you to remember me." Jace says sitting down in the chair next to my bed. "But a small sliver of me still hoped you would remember me."
"You could just tell me who you are then I would know you, right?" I say puzzled on what to do.
"I'm your boyfriend of three wonderful years, as of today. I am the luckiest guy on the Earth because you came back to me." He says smiling at me "Do you remember August 2013?"
"I thought it was August 2013 right now?" I say confused.
"No sweetheart, it's July of 2014." Jace says worriedly. "You honestly don't remember do you?"
"No not a clue." I say.
"Amnesia." He says and then turns and grabs my hands and looks into my eyes. "Alleyna Elizabeth Moore, please think as hard as you can for me. Do you remember a Jace Cole Mathews?"
"No." I say looking straight into his deep blue eyes.
His face completely collapses now. He takes his hands back and shoves his face into them. Jace starts to cry into his hands. I try with all my willpower to remember him but I can't think past the last few minutes. I try as hard as I can to move my arms but it feels as if they're made of lead. So I just sit there and cry with him.
