[ "ATHENA CASTILLO, GET YOUR MANGY ARSE HERE, RIGHT NOW!"

"Why must you scream?" ]

Luciana sat in the living room, silently thinking about what her life had come to. Her mother had been burned at the stake in front of her very eyes, lit by her own father. She and her sister had to flee from the only home they ever knew. They had yet to find their permanent place of residence, staying in a house from a very powerful witch and two vampires.

An Original gave them safety and is currently looking for someplace for just them.

She had no idea how her life came to this. Why did she have to leave for being who she is? They weren't hurting anyone. If anything, they were keeping people alive. They healed and helped their crops flourish. They cleaned the water.

All they got in return was being hunted.

Luckily, the three vampires had kept them safe for the last month give or take.

"So, Miss Katherine, how did you meet Miss Athena?" One of the younger kids who was almost thirteen, asked.

Katherine, who had been moving a table into the main area before the stairs, paused. The table hovered for a moment before she gently set it down. She smiled at the kid, though it was a little strained. "I've known her for a very long time. I do not remember now," she said before quickly exiting the room.

Athena eyed her best friend from her spot across from Luciana, tapping her fingers against her knee. She looked away, going back to her book.

Luciana wondered what their deal was. They seemed as thick as thieves and yet neither of them would talk about how they came to know each other. What had happened that was so bad?

Athena looked up, meeting her eyes. Luciana looked away quickly, going back to her own book. She heard Athena hum but ignored her.

Luciana stared at the painting before her. It was a little graphic; a woman kneeling in a wide circle with a sword in one hand and a stake in the other. She was covered in blood, her eyes glowing orange while her body was dimly gold. A man was on the ground before her, covering his face. Across the way, body parts and blood leading to her, was another woman. She was blonde and was staring at the glowing woman with wide eyes, her arm raised. She had a shoge-type weapon, though it was just a knife and there was a black cuff around her wrist.

She had passed it many times, looked at even more. She had yet to figure out just what it was. Why it was so significant for Athena to put it up in her house.

"It's the day Athena freed her mother." Luciana jumped a little and turned her head. Katherine stood beside her, staring at the painting with something like aw. Luciana looked back at the painting as Katherine pointed to the glowing woman, "This is Athena."

Luciana tilted her head, looking closer. It did look like Athena now that she thought about it. She just couldn't make it out when her eyes were orange and she was glowing.
