We finished dinner under the soft glow of candlelight, sharing little chats and laughter. The night was perfect as we sat beside the pool, surrounded by the decorations Ava had arranged.

I'd never been one to make a big deal out of my birthday. My parents and friends know that about me, so they usually keep it simple-just a text or a phone call.

But tonight was different. The way she put everything together for me, it was undeniable. I felt so good, not just about the celebration, but about sharing it with her. I'd never thought birthdays were anything special before, but after today, I found myself wanting to celebrate this day with her every year.

She had prepared all the food herself, and nothing tasted better than that. She dressed up for me, looking more beautiful than I could have imagined. I couldn't take my eyes off her.

The atmosphere around us was warm, comforting, and full of love. Ava looked absolutely breathtaking in her blue dress, the way it hugged her curves, the necklace glinting around her neck, and her cheeks flushed a soft pink from the wine. It added to her charm, making it impossible for me to look anywhere else.

She had probably drunk more than she should have. I'd told her to go easy, but she kept insisting, though I managed to convince her to stop after a bit of playful resistance.

When we both finished dinner, she reached under the table and handed me a bag.

"Open it," Ava said, her lips curving into a small smile.

I took the bag from her, my curiosity piqued. Ava's eyes sparkled with anticipation as she watched me closely.

I reached into the bag, my fingers brushing against something soft and textured. Slowly, I pulled it out, revealing a beautifully knitted green sweater. My breath caught in my throat as recognition hit me.

"This sweater..." I murmured, stunned. "You barely started knitting it last week. How did you manage to finish it so quickly?"

Ava's smile faltered for a moment. "How do you know that?" she asked.

I hesitated, realizing my mistake. "I saw it in your bag," I admitted quietly. "When I was getting your sanitary pads last week, I noticed the ball of yarn. I didn't want to ask at the time, figuring it might spoil a surprise."

Ava's expression softened but there was still a hint of surprise in her eyes. I rubbed the back of my neck awkwardly. "I didn't mean to, Ava... I didn't see it on purpose," I trailed off. "By the way, it's beautifully knitted." I looked down at the sweater.

She exhaled softly, her smile returning. "I'm just glad you like it."

"Like it? I love it," I said, running my fingers over the fabric. "It's incredible. You're so talented, Ava. I didn't even know you could knit."
