Double trouble

5 - first battle

(HI! i'm busy with school lately so i won't write much. sorry!)

I was sitting in my seat, consumed in my own thoughts. until Denki poked my side.

"Hey, isn't it your  to fight next?" he asks and turns back to the fight down below. i glanced over at him with a shrug. but come to think of it, maybe it was, actually.. i got up from my seat and walked down the stairs from the audience, and down into the hallways of the stadium. i walk into the waiting room, only to find it empty. and it makes me wonder. who am i even fighting against? But i was pulled out of my thoughts as i heard the audience roar up in cheers. the match must be over. i took a deep breath as my name was called.

"NEXT BATTLE!! Y/N L/N AGAINST.. RYYYYDER SAITOO!(Raze)" Present Mic announced, and i walk onto the battlefield with a steady breath and my fists clenched at my sides. i hear the audience cheering while some whispering. Ryder. he must be one of the foreign students that were allowed to compete.

"Seems like your opponent is late.." Midnight chuckles as she stood to the side. i nod quietly and was about to speak up until he walks in. He had a grin on his face and headphones on his head. i could practically hear his music with the amount of bass he played. Jeez. was he one of the arrogant ones? His brown hair fit perfectly with his tan skin and vibrant orange eyes. he wore his cap backwards. "Never mind! Here he is!" Midnight said cheerfully. "Sorry i was late! Had to find a playlist you know?" Raze said with a hum as he stood a few feet in front of me. I couldn't help but cringe a bit. This was the sports festival, not just some game. but when i think of it, i recognized this guy. He was the second guy in that trio with that dude who fought earlier.. Ryo, yeah. but if that's his friend, was this guy just as strong? based on physical appearance, i can't figure out his quirk. But.. i do see a couple of scars on him. Lighter cut like scars, a contrast to his tan skin. This could indicate he maybe had a destructive quirk. But that's.. fine. i have one too.

"Okay, ready! 1! 2! 3! Go!!!" Midnight announced. And as i put my hands together i was met by a huge explosion. dust and debris flying everywhere. my eyes widen, but i manage to create a stone barrier just in time before the explosion hit me. So.. his quirk was explosions? In a moment of thought, i suddenly see two walls of fire roar up. they curve and went right towards me. i dodged the fire as they clashed within each other. "Does he have multiple quirks?!" I thought to myself. But then it hit me. His quirk was related to fire, anything fire powered. I observed his form and appearance. I saw two devices, one on each of his arms. it seemed somewhat high-tech. that must be where he gets the explosions from. But gears weren't allowed here. So that makes me think he creates the explosions himself, but maybe he doesn't have full control over them..

i sent pillars of hard rock towards my opponent. They warped and Twisted, aiming for him. But to my surprise, he counters the attack with a fireball. the fireball burnt through the pillars, leaving spots of magma on the battlefield. I clenched my fists and sent a huge attack towards Ryder(Raze). huge rocks shoot up from the ground, each creating a rumble throughout the stadium. Raze jumps into the air and blasts the rocks to pieces. God.. damn it. as i dragged my gaze from the broken cliffs, i was met by Raze in the air above me. My eyes widen, as the last thing i see was Raze charging up a huge explosion, putting his hands together in a formation. together with a burning sensation all over my body.

AFTER THE FIGHT. Y/N POV

I woke up to a bright light, blinking a few times to adjust my vision. my ears were ringing and i head a throbbing headache. I sat up and saw recovery girl sitting by her desk, and Denki sitting on a chair by my bed. he smiles happily. "HII!" He waved

"I lost, didn't i." I said as i sat up. I look down at my hands and clenched and unclenched them a few times. Denki puts a hand on the back of his head.

"I mean.. Yeah, but it was a good battle!" Denki said enthusiastically to try and cheer me up.

"I don't think so. i feel like i lost so quickly." I sigh and put my head in my hands. Denki tilts his head

"What do you mean?" Denki asks. almost sounding.. confused.

"What? I blacked out after like.. 3 attacks." I look back at him, dumbfounded.

"Don't you remember?" Denki asks

"Remember wha-" I stopped and thought back. My eyes widen.

FLASHBACK

after i saw Raze in t

he air above me, i sent a flying chunk of rocks into the air, blocking me from his attack. it must've taken a toll on my body, leaving me to being awake but not at the same time. I used the ground beneath me to form into ropes of stone. moving on their own. i sent them at Raze, which caused him to get all wrapped up into the ropes. i remember seeing him struggle. Until fire emerged from his whole body, traveling down the ropes and onto the ground. spreading like vines throughout the battlefield. i remember fighting it off. the burning sensations in my body. The heavy feeling of earth bending weighing down on my body. The smoke burning in my throat after his relentless attacks. And that's where my body gave up on me. 

Present time

"What about my opponent.. how is he?" I asked and looked back at Denki

"Oh, well, he walked off the battlefield after you were taken away. he looked relatively fine, but i did see something off with is arm." Denki put his index finger and thumb on his chin

"What do you mean?" I ask. 

"Well, he was like holding his arm very tightly with his other hand. it was like flinching, or jerking a bit." Denki shrugs. i nod with a small hum. Maybe i managed to hurt him, too. although, I'm not sure if i got to see his full power. After seeing how his friend fought earlier.. i doubt it.

"Are you okay though?" Denki asks. 

"Oh, yeah, I'm fine now." I smile subtly and moved to sit on the edge of the bed.

"Bakugo won his first match earlier. it was pretty sick!" Denki said and leans back in his chair.

"ooh, that's nice." I said. yes, i was eliminated. But at least i have amazing friends, who are still here to cheer me up. And plus, i get to watch the rest of the matches peacefully with the rest of the audience.

"Oh, and i heard a lot of pro heroes talk about you!" Denki suddenly said

"...WAIT WHA-"
