As I leaned back in my chair, the tension in my shoulders refused to ease. The morning had been a blur of phone calls, emails, and meetings. I had barely managed to get a moment to breathe when the door to my office clicked open. I glanced up from the report on my desk, my eyes narrowing slightly as the imposing figure of Raghav Chauhan entered. His presence immediately changed the atmosphere in the room. There was something about him— his smooth confidence, the way his gaze lingered on me a beat too long— that always made me feel on edge.

"Yuvika," he greeted with that unsettling smile of his, walking toward my desk as if he owned the place. "I thought I'd come by to hear your decision about the partnership."

I swallowed the sudden knot in my throat, reminding myself to stay composed. I quickly glanced down at my phone, pretending to check a message. "Mr. Chauhan," I said, keeping my tone polite yet firm, "I'm currently handling some urgent matters. I'll need more time to finalise everything."

He didn't sit, but instead leaned against my desk, his arms folded across his chest as his eyes locked onto mine. "I understand you're busy, but surely you must have made up your mind by now. This isn't the kind of decision that should take too long, especially for someone like you." His words were casual, but there was an unmistakable pressure behind them.

I felt my fingers grip the edge of the desk a little tighter. There was something predatory about the way he looked at me— like I was his prey, and he was waiting for me to slip up. "As I said, Mr. Chauhan, I'll need more time to review the terms thoroughly. I don’t make impulsive decisions, especially when they involve major partnerships."

Raghav's smile widened slightly, his eyes flickering with an unsettling amusement. "Of course, Yuvika. I respect that. Take all the time you need." He straightened up, but I could feel the weight of his gaze as he spoke again. "Just remember, time isn't always on our side."

A chill ran through me at the subtle threat in his words, but I maintained my composure. "I’m fully aware of that," I replied, trying to mask the growing unease in my chest. "Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to get back to work."

He nodded slightly and turned to leave, but paused at the door. "Don’t keep me waiting too long," he added with a glance over his shoulder before stepping out of my office.

I let out a breath as the door clicked shut, my mind still racing from the encounter. I tried to refocus on my work, but my thoughts kept circling back to his words. Just as I was about to turn my attention back to the documents in front of me, I saw Raghav pausing outside my door, pulling out his phone. His expression changed, darkening, and I immediately felt a prick of curiosity. His normally smug face was tight with concern as he listened to whoever was on the other end of the line.
