Chapter 2

Aaliyah

It's the next day and I've accepted the mission. I arrived at the club right before it opened. The way to my office felt odd, but I brushed it off, when I reach for my key I notice the door is already open. I immediately take out my gun and get ready to shoot the burglar. Just to find the one person I hate most, Valentina Mariano. "What are you doing in my office, sitting on my chair?" She walks up to me and calmly takes the gun from my hands. "Tsk tsk tsk there's no need to be violent now is there?"

"I'm sure you know by now that we'll be working together" she states while smirking. "Unfortunately" I murmur under my breath. "So I just decided to pay partner a visit, I'm not committing a crime now am I, Liyah?" She says with a smirk. "Don't call me that." "What should I call you? Honey, darling, sweetheart, amore? She says far too smugly. " Aaliyah is just fine" I say through gritted teeth, but I can't help blushing. "Your blushing tells me otherwise" "Can we just get onto business" My cheeks are still flaming "No problem, amore." We discussed the mission for most of the afternoon.

I decide to go downstairs for a drink when I bump into Roman, "Oh hey sis, I was just about to come get you." I look at him with confusion, "Why?", " Tio and Tia's 10 year anniversary." Then I realised it was today, "Shit, I completely forgot" "Do you at least have a gift?" I'd forgotten to get a gift "No" "Well you're in luck, I got one for you!" At that moment I was so relieved that I could just hug him into an oblivion, "You're a life saver.", "What would you do without me?" I playfully roll my eyes. My little brother's ego is bigger than his head.

We arrive at the party and we start greeting everyone there. "Tio, Tia!! Ten years of marriage and you two are still as in love as ever." "Liyah, Rome. It's so good to see you! You two are looking gorgeous! You might steal the spotlight" "No Tia, tonight is about you guys" Rome and I say simultaneously. "Still gorgeous" Tia counters, "Your parents and Rovi are over at the food bar." "Vos duo vultus stupendo simul!" I shout in Latin. (You two look breathtaking together.) We find our parents at the food bar like Tia said but Rovi is no where to be seen, "Mom, where's Rovi?" "Oh he's probably at the bar." Makes sense.

I make small talk with the rest of the guests when I spot Valentina at the bar alone. Why is she here? I think to myself. I decide to avoid her completely. As I walk around the corner, I'm faced with a sight I cannot believe I'm seeing... Rovario flirting with my best friend, Danielle and she's blushing! "Danielle, Rovario. What's going on here?" They look nervous... suspicious. "Nothing, Liyah" They say simultaneously and blush far too suspiciously, "You know what, I need a drink at this point." I walk to the bar and find a drunk Valentina still taking shots. I sit down next to her and order a shot of tequila, she orders another "Nope, no more shots for you, you're already too drunk as it is." II say as I take the shot from her hand. "Why do you care? You despise me right.", " You're my brother's best friend, he wouldn't like seeing you like this" I say ignoring her last statement. "Just leave me alone, okay." I left for the restroom after a few shots. When I went back, she was gone.

I went back home after the party, to get some shut eye. I woke up exhausted the next morning, so I decided to join Danielle for a gym session, "So... what happened between you and you and Rovario yesterday?" Her cheeks redden "Nothing." "Then why are you blushing?" She blushes even more, "I'm not telling you anything" I gasp, offended "You don't mean that, right?" She rolls her eyes at me "I'm kidding, I'll tell you when the time is right." "Okay, if you say so." We work out for a while until we each have to go to work.
