The anemo archon smiled as Paimon approached.
"What ho, my dear archivist? Has the breeze been blessing you as of late? You know, if you give some offerings of wine at the statue of the seven, you may get an even cooler wind as thanks!"Paimon rolled her eyes.
"Ooh, enough of your musings, Barbatos. Besides, shouldn't that wind be going to the people of Mondstadt? It's the least you can do, considering the fact you dont really govern this place directly.""Hehe, fair enough. But I'll have you know that I would never dream of taking personal control! That defeats the purpose of freedom."
Venti proudly declared."When was the last time you even did anything down here? The last time Paimon saw you in action was when the Lawrence clan still called the shots."
Venti scratched his head, he got his tongue out, with a whimsical expression on his face.
"Ehe...""Ugh... Anyways, Paimon called you here because she found something, two things actually. One of which has something to do with your dragon friend, and the other has something to do with a new visitor from beyond the stars."
Venti's expression shifted. He looked around to see if anyone was eavesdropping.
"Alright, I'm listening. Dvalin hasn't been seen in some time already, even when I call him with my lyre, nothing."Paimon placed a hand on her chest.
"And that's exactly what bothers Paimon. So, she did some digging and searching around the area and she found something kind of disturbing... There are Abyss order forces here, in significant numbers."
Those words were enough to get Venti into a serious mood.
"Paimon doesn't know what they plan to do, but she bets they have something to do with Dvalin not being present. She thinks you should look around and keep your eyes peeled for anything going on... The Abyss doesn't just show up in force and not have some kind of scheme planned.""I see... Alright, I'll keep you posted. How about the other thing you wanted to talk about?"
"Oh, that." Paimon reached out to the starry ether. Without warning a scroll popped into existence, as though teleporting right into place.
As it floated above her hand, she presented it to the Anemo Archon.
"Paimon did some searching a few months ago and came across some old fortune tellers in Fontaine. Paimon wanted to know if she was in for a very rough ride on a planned trip she had. Instead, the fortune tellers told her that to look at her archives...""And?"
"So, Paimon did just that and started searching, in the section marked 'unfulfilled prophecies' and I found something that's supposed to happen on this very day."
Paimon cleared her throat, the scroll unfurling itself before them.
"The prophecy says that today, at midnight, something or someone will appear and quote; 'seize the power of all the seven elements and do battle among the heavens.' that time is rapidly approaching.""I see. Oh, is that why you wanted to go to the whispering woods?"
"Yes, Paimon has a feeling she brought this one on herself. She should probably go ahead and get to investigating what it's all about. Also, Paimon wanted to visit Dornman port while were out."
Though their relationship wasn't the most stellar in all Teyvat, Paimon, and Venti had one of the more stable ones. Even if that comes with a few arguments and some clashing ideologies. Paimon never liked how Barbatos, or Venti as he calls himself now, ran the country. He didn't even personally oversaw it.
She can understand his reasoning, after all, freedom can't be contained. Otherwise, it would be akin to trapping water from a strong river in a container. Losing its free-flowing nature and very essence. But Venti could have at least been something of a distant watcher, or taken up the role of a mortal advisor, an advisor free to give suggestions and ideas but not necessarily to dictate policy. Then everybody wins.
