The Downspin
Introduction
This story takes place in the stormy and dark valley of Dunkin County in which a man few of words is finally spoken out. This man is Mike Rome and he is a 22 year old self deprived man losing everything he thought was great in life. His family sent him on a downfall which is his life is left smashed into pieces. Sent spiralling in a never ending trial of his emotions he is left with nothing but drugs to find a way out. He is looking for something more, something extravagantly exciting to spark that fire which once was his joy, his hope, and his pride instead of sitting alone, sleeping during the day and at night sitting with his thoughts of depression. When he is awake during the day, he finds himself back with his "friends" engaging in drug usage which leads him back to where he started, wallowing in his own self pity. It all is inspired by a true life story of a person I knew and who I was near a lot during my years of life. The story begins where all stories begin, the beginning and goes through his story, and how he got to where he is present day. It also reveals the shocking future that will become if he continues his way of life.
Chapter One
The Start to the Bottom
It was the end of August and most of the the kids were beginning their first day of classes, getting adjusted to their new schedule. Everyone, except for Mike Rome, he is now sitting awake for 36 hours, hallucinations filling his mind, under a bridge covered in mud and sweat, trying to find his way back home, yet stuck in Indian style, sitting by a pile of ashes which his friends were once around. They promised they would keep a close eye on him if things went bad, told him, "We will make sure your safe, just take it and everything will be fine when you come to. You've got not a worry in the world to be concerned about except taking this." Which he soon found out he had a lot more to be worried about than he could have thought, if he can even think at this point. He consumed 3 tabs of LSD and smoked 3 bong packs with dabs on top of that. He was living in his own nightmare of hallucinations and fantasies. If he could even check his phone he would know that the true nightmare was back in reality, he had 17 missed calls from his mother who would soon find out where he was and what he was spending his last summer nights doing. It is now 10 am and Mike's mother is receiving her first phone call today praying that it is her son. "Hello!" She answers quickly and an anxious tone in her voice is heard, she didn't even look at the number she just needed to know her son was okay. "Hello, this is Chief Welder of the Dunkin County Police Department, we found your son, he seemed to be high on something and he has yet to say anything since we picked him up. We placed him in the drunk tank and we either need you to come get him or he will be held in custody till charges are pressed." The phone drop to the floor, not even hanging up, his mother stormed out the door to her car. The skid marks she left when she rushed out to see her son will be left there on the driveway as a constant reminder of this day. Flying by 3 stop signs and 3 red lights she arrived, infuriated, at the station. The door hit the wall with a loud bang that Mike even heard it through the drunk tank's sound proof walls. It shocked him back to reality, it literally shocked him sober and now he knew the worst was yet to come. From not knowing where he was to not knowing what he was doing the past 2 nights, he knew it was nothing compared to what was about to happen when his mother got a hold of him. He stood up, wobbly since he was sitting for 12 hours in the drunk tank, hallucinations filling his mind thinking he was trapped in a box and was unable to move from his sitting position. Pacing back and forth he lifted his head to see out the window of the drunk tank, he saw police officers and his stomach dropped, then he saw his mother staring at him, and he became sick.
