Fast author's note!

This shit is long. Like... long long. It's over 10.000 words long. It's mostly the same as season 6 episode 20 but I did add bonus scenes and spiced a few conversations. Also! Sorry for any mistakes in writing. English isn't my first language.

I also put a song up there that reminds me of these two.

Enjoy!

Three weeks after William's funeral

Kara was at her own apartment. She was listening to the news while preparing the flowers for her sister's wedding. She was happy for them. Alex and Kelly had been through a lot in the past two years with the rest of them and they deserved at least this one day where they could be happy without the burdens of the world on their shoulders. Especially with Esme in the family. She loved that little girl and she deserved all of her moms attention. She really wanted to be truly happy for them but somehow she was feeling... unwell. Not because of her sister's seemingly perfect life. She felt like something was missing. Picking the flowers she caught the sound of the reporter in the TV.

Firefighters are at a loss at what to do with a cat trapped inside the branches of National City's oldest tree, which extends higher than firefighters can reach right now.

This was it. Kara's eyes flickered with a glimpse of hope as she sighed in relief. There are some things she could help with. She grabbed her glasses and turned around to whoosh out of the building as the reporter's voice grabbed her attention again and she turned back.

Hold on a moment. It appears local business leaders have banded together, to create a rope and pulley system, and they're getting  Howls, the British Shorthair down right now.

Kara put her glasses back on. She was disappointed. She was also proud of the people. They came together stronger than ever and fixed problems they would've screamed "HELP" for weeks ago. It was a nice change and it was a very good thing that they haven't relied on her being there for them 24/7 but at the same time it was like something got ripped away from her. Something meaningful. For the past six years being Supergirl became her identity. The hero-self of her was the closest she ever got to living as Kara Zor-El from Krypton. And by being the hero she was she felt close not only to her parents and her home but to her cousin too. She sighed and picked up the remote to turn off the TV.

At that moment her phone rang. An unknown number popped up on the screen. She picked the phone up confused and put it to her ear.

"Hello?" she asked with clear confusion. Who on earth would call her at that time? She had her friend's and family member's number saved and she didn't work for CatCo anymore. A familiar voice started to talk on the other side.

"Do you know who I despise, Ker-rah? I despise people." Cat Grant's voice filled the kryptonian's ears and she felt extreme confusion and happiness at the same time. Cat Grant was the one who sent her on her way and gave her millions of great advice as Kara and as Supergirl. Heck that woman created Supergirl as a hero. "All of them. I really do."

"Ms. Grant?" she asked in disbelief shaking her head even tho the woman on the other side couldn't possibly see it.

"People are not only destructive, selfish, they're just so stupid." Kara chuckled and tried to open her mouth.

"Ms. Grant do you, uh-"

"No, no, uh-uh, ee." she interrupted making strange noises in the way only her old friend could. "I'm speaking."
