Mr. Murdoch looked at me for a few moments, probably wondering how I got to the wheelhouse in the first place, before he asked, "How did you get here ma'am? You're not supposed to be here!" I opened my mouth to respond, but he cut me off."Come with me." He said as he went inside, making sure I was following him as he maneuvered about, either giving orders to others or sending word via telegraph.
I stood against the wall, so I'd be out of the way, and looked around. On the back wall, there were controlled panels that would lower the 16 watertight doors. These were designed to keep the ship afloat if it was damaged and flooded. Also on the back wall was phones that were used to communicate with the lookouts and engine room.
At the front was the Helm, used to stear the ship, and a compass. There were 5 transmitters that transmitted orders to various places on the ship, two of which were used to transmit orders to the engine room, and two to the gangway. The fifth was an emergency telegraph, also used to communicate with the engine room if the other two failed to work.
Just then, I saw Murdoch approaching me from the corner of my eye. "Alright ma'am, please tell me how you managed to get here so close to the wheelhouse unnoticed. All the other passengers are located on the lower decks." He asked.
