While the others saw this as a social experiment, Izz decided that he would be the one to save her from that household. Noble, but foolish. Feeling good about himself, Izz told his father about how pure his intentions were.
"So, this is how you will spend the second half of your fourth year in secondary school, eh?" Riza chuckled, handing Izz a sponge and pointing towards a spot on the car that was smeared with bird poop. Father and son were washing the car. Izz usually did this alone, but Riza wanted to check, just to make sure that his standards were fulfilled. Izz turned his gaze towards his father, who looked like he had more to say, but his father just shook his head and let out a small laugh. Izz tilted his head in confusion.
Farhah never told her parents about Izz and Izz decided that it was best that way. Hands behind his head, Izz stared blankly at the ceiling. Two figures started to take shape, and soon the empty ceiling became a canvas for Izz's hopes in the future.
After graduating, he planned to marry her and take her far away. He was her knight in shining armour. She was also quite a depressed person, so Izz was to constantly remind her not to hurt herself and to be by her side. Izz shall be the light that shone bright in Farhah's life. The best part was that all this while, the others didn't suspect a thing, or so Izz thought...
School had come to an end. Farhah's issues are still unresolved. Mimi had still failed to secure anything with Izz. Aleesya was still as laid back as ever, taking things nice and slow. Haziq and Hani were doing wonderful, and their parents were closer than ever, as if they were already in-laws. Izz and Hani were no longer awkward, and he even paid occasional visits to his neighbour.
Aniq and Wafi had grown even closer than they were before their falling out. True partners in crime, they were. Alisya was still silent, but everyone knew that she could be counted on to provide valuable insight.
"Well, this is it," Haziq declared, forcing a smile.
"Thanks for bringing this wonderful group together, Izz," Hani said, smiling.
"Well, you two aren't going anywhere, that's for sure," Aniq teased, causing Hani to blush and hide behind Haziq.
"Neither are we. Me and Aniq intend on opening up our own mechanic. So... if you guys have any issues, you know who to find," Wafi added.
"So, no university?" Alisya asked.
Wafi shook his head. "We are going to mechanic school, though," Aniq clarified.
"As long as you're happy, go for it," Aleesya encouraged.
"Since this might be the last meeting, we will have for quite some time, let's just chat, eh? No phones, just us," Izz suggested. Rina suggested this earlier this morning, so Izz quietly muttered a 'thank you Mother' when the others agreed to his suggestion.
As the sun sank deeper, and the sky turned from blue to a bright orange, the group dispersed. Izz then felt a light tap on his shoulder. "If you need someone, you know where to find me," Mimi said, her eyes watery. It took a few seconds, but Izz understood what she meant.
Then, Izz felt another tap, a rough one this time. "She likes you, you know?" Haziq said, admiring the view. The way the light coming off the sun spread out, among the clouds, with its bright, almost overwhelming hue of orange, with a tinge of red, was a work of art only the owner of all beauty could produce. "If Jill were here, then it would all be complete".
Izz shrugged. "Perhaps. Very similar those two. Such simple characters, caught up in such complicated circumstances".
Afterwards, was the time to think about tertiary education. Izz at first pursued computer sciences. However, after just two weeks, he gave up. The course in particular was a breeze for Izz. He enjoyed editing and had some knowledge about computers, so this was his domain. The problem however was that the environment was less than pleasurable. The people were very toxic and not weren't friendly, the facilities not up-to-date, and for an institution that offered computer sciences as a course, it had horrible Wi-Fi. Thus, in a drastic and almost foolish turn of events, he pursued law instead. Riza tried his best to convince Izz to stay, but he knew that at this age, pushing people to do things they didn't want to, would only lead to conflict.
