Amrit knew that convincing her family would be difficult, especially since they had strong reservations about her working with Veer. Her parents, Rachna and Mahendra, had made it clear that they didn't trust Veer and felt he might be manipulating her. This was the very reason they initially wanted her to leave the office.
One evening, the family was gathered in the living room. Her mother, Rachna, brought up the resignation again. "Amrit, humne tumhe kaha tha na, yeh office aur Veer ke saath kaam karna theek nahi hai. Tumhari resignation ho chuki hai na?"
Amrit, prepared but nervous, nodded slightly. "Maa, maine resignation wapas le li," she said softly, looking at the ground. "Mujhe laga ki yeh waqt galat hai company chhodne ka. Financial year ka end hai, aur mera ek important project pending hai. Agar main abhi chhod deti, toh mere career pe bohot negative impact hoga."
Mahendra frowned, clearly not satisfied. "Tumhara career ka concern samajh mein aata hai, Amrit, lekin humne tumhare liye yeh decision liya tha kyunki Veer ke saath kaam karna thik nahi lagta. Humare concerns tumhe pata hain."
Kalindi, her bua maa, also chimed in, suspicious. "Itna bada decision tumne apne aap kaise le liya? Tumhare resignation ka reason toh family ke pressure par tha, aur ab tum keh rahi ho tumne wapas le liya? Kahin Veer ka toh haath nahi isme?"
Amrit felt the tension building. She knew her family wasn't convinced. Taking a deep breath, she explained further. "Nahi, bua maa. Yeh mera decision tha. Agar main abhi resign karti, toh mujhe achhe career opportunities milne mein problem hoti. Yeh industry chhoti hai, aur agar abhi chhodti, toh log sochte ki main responsibilities se bhaag rahi hoon." She paused, trying to sound as logical as possible. "Agar main yeh project complete karti hoon, toh meri credibility badegi. It'll show that I can handle pressure. Isliye maine socha ki abhi resign karna career ke liye galat hoga."
Rachna was still unconvinced. "Career ke liye toh theek hai, Amrit, lekin Veer ke saath kaam karna? Uske gharwale aur humare beech ke differences tum janti ho. Tumhe waha safe feel hota hai?"
Amrit bit her lip. She had anticipated this question. "Maa, main samajhti hoon ki Veer aur unke parivaar ke saath humare issues hain, lekin office ka environment alag hai. Main strictly professional hoon. Mera focus sirf kaam par hai, aur Veer ne kabhi apni personal life ka asar mere career decisions par nahi padne diya. Main apne liye yeh decision le rahi hoon, not because of Veer."
Her father, Mahendra, was still not convinced. "Amrit, tum hamesha yeh kehti ho, lekin hume lagta hai Veer tumhare decisions ko manipulate kar raha hai. Tum uske influence mein toh nahi ho?"
Amrit's heart raced. She had to diffuse the situation before it got worse. "Papa, main aapko assure karti hoon, yeh mera apna decision hai. Main apne career ke baare mein responsible hoon, aur agar mujhe kabhi lagega ki yeh decision galat tha, main wapas resign kar dungi. Lekin abhi yeh mere future ke liye zaroori hai."
Her family exchanged uneasy glances. They weren't fully convinced, but Amrit's logic was sound. After a long pause, Kalindi sighed and said, "Theek hai, Amrit. Hum tumhe abhi ke liye allow karte hain, lekin agar kuch bhi galat laga, tum office chhod dogi. Samjhi?"
