Many people find it hard to imagine, but in reality, it's terrifying and uncomfortable when your senses are infinitely magnified.
This was also because Kara hadn't yet adapted, and at first, she couldn't control it freely, so she couldn't prevent herself from receiving any sound within a 100-meter radius in her ears.
It caused her so much pain that she could even hear the fight between the insects: a few ants were tearing apart a caterpillar, a mouse was eating crops, and another mouse seemed to have caught a butterfly and was feasting on it.
For regular people, these sounds may seem insignificant, but because Kara could hear them so clearly, it was terrifying.
Then there was her vision. Kara could see through microscopic objects unconsciously. Luckily, she realized that the heat vision rays could be controlled, otherwise, she would have been a laser gun ready to go off at any moment.
Since Kara understood what was happening, she didn't panic, but she still needed to figure out how to control her ability.
But she couldn't stay like this forever, right?
—Hey, Kara —Jonathan and Martha hadn't left. They were also shocked by Kara's heat vision, and there was still a smoldering crater not too far away that had been scorched.
Still, they bravely approached Kara, who was crouched down on the ground.
Jonathan crouched next to her and patted her back gently. He didn't ask what was wrong, but he tried to calm her down and said: "Even though I don't know exactly what's happening to you, I think you should focus on what you have in mind. Focus on what you want to see and what you want to hear. Try to concentrate."
Don't underestimate the Kent couple. Even though they seem like simple farmers, they have always been a great help to Superman.
Kara lifted her head, saw Jonathan's encouraging expression, and agreed: "I'll try."
She shouted because the noise in her ears was so loud that she unconsciously raised her voice.
Jonathan rubbed his ears, as it was a deafening experience at such a short distance.
Following Jonathan's advice, Kara closed her eyes and gradually calmed her mood and emotions.
Even though Jonathan didn't have superpowers, his method worked unexpectedly well.
Slowly, Kara turned off her super hearing, reducing the range from the initial 100 meters to just a few dozen, and finally only her immediate surroundings, allowing her to decide when to hear nearby sounds.
Kara then opened her eyes and realized she could also control her super vision well, no longer seeing through the physical bodies of her adoptive parents, and no longer seeing skeletons whenever she opened her eyes, which had been terrifying.
Kara took a deep breath and let herself fall back in relief, only to land in a gentle embrace—Martha caught her.
Jonathan stood up, seeing that Kara was no longer so uncomfortable, and smiled in satisfaction.
Due to Kara's sudden awakening, the two spaceships weren't moved to the storage shed that morning. Martha told them to wait until after lunch.
And Clark was about to cry again, seemingly hungry once more.
After all, he was still in a baby's body. On one hand, he couldn't eat too much at once, and on the other, he got hungry easily.
The lunch wasn't anything fancy. Martha just prepared a soup with farm ingredients, but to Kara's surprise, there was rice on the table.
Indeed, in some places rice is grown, but it's not used as a staple food, rather it's eaten as a side dish or in soups, like other vegetables.
Despite its simplicity, Kara ate quite well.
"I'll go to the nearby town this afternoon to buy some ingredients, and I'll cook you a delicious dinner tonight," Martha said, relieved and happy to see Kara enjoying the meal, offering to prepare a more sumptuous dinner.
It seemed the Kents were used to living a simple life, and there weren't many abundant ingredients prepared at home.
In almost every region, dinner is more important than lunch or breakfast. It's usually the most plentiful and well-prepared meal of the day.
Kara said she didn't mind. As an adoptive daughter who had escaped, she didn't want to be a burden or take advantage of the Kents' kindness.
But Martha pointed to Kara's clothes: "I also want to get you some new clothes."
Kara was still wearing her Kryptonian outfit, which was far too conspicuous with its clearly alien design.
Finally, Kara accepted, feeling warmth in her heart. She was grateful for having made the right decision and felt fortunate to have found such a kind family.
In the Superman comics, there is a parallel world where Superman landed in Metropolis instead of this farm.
As a result, he was imprisoned as a child, and because he didn't have access to sunlight, he grew up weak and never developed any superpowers, leading to a tragic end.
Fortunately, Kara and Clark didn't share that fate.
After lunch, Kara volunteered to move the spaceships to the shed. She had already tested her super strength earlier and seemed capable of jumping to great heights with a single leap.
Kara wondered if she could also learn to fly.
This time, she lifted the spaceship more gently, little by little.
Jonathan and Martha were once again amazed. The spaceship was at least heavier than a car, but Kara seemed to handle it effortlessly.
How strong must she be?
Following Jonathan's instructions, Kara lifted the spaceship and followed him to the side of the house, where there was a spacious shed used for storing tools, fertilizers, and even crops.
Jonathan organized the storage of the spaceships on the second floor, where there was plenty of space. After Kara brought up both spaceships and placed them in a corner, she covered them with a waterproof tarp. Unless someone searched specifically for them, it would be hard to find them.
After finishing everything, Martha found some old clothes for Kara to change out of her Kryptonian attire.
It was an old dress, still well-preserved, but the style was a bit outdated.
Martha tied Kara's long hair into a ponytail with a hair tie to keep it from blowing around in the wind.
Kara didn't resist, blinking her big blue eyes, and said after everything was done: "You don't really need to buy me new clothes."
She didn't want to owe too much and didn't like taking advantage of others' generosity.
But the more she acted this way, the more the Kents liked her.
"We don't have any children. You are a gift from God, a blessing for us. From today on, this is your home. Even though we aren't your real parents, we will fulfill our duties as adoptive parents. So don't be shy with us."
