"Maybe I just need to find someone to make him jealous?" My voice slightly slurred from the alcohol in my system.

I saw him visibly gulp as he sat, face to face, a little too close with the music thumping in the background.

But it faded into absolutely nothing when Ethan's eyes fell down my face.

He stared at my lips for a little too long before his eyes found mine again, "Try me."

I blinked.

Wait.

WHAT?!

"Ethan- what are you-"

"I can help you." He shrugged, his British accent somehow making the proposal sound even more enticing. "We can make him jealous together."

"I- uh-- don't understand?" I trailed off as I sat there, staring at him with as much confusion as the alcohol up my head.

"Ava." Gosh his accent has never sounded more delicious. "It's simple." He continued, his eyes as pretty as the skies, never leaving mine.

"We'll pretend to be together, show Drake how amazing we are as a couple. He'll get jealous and you get your man." He said, ordering another drink for himself. I did the same, ordering whiskey on the rocks.

"And if he doesn't get jealous?" I sipped on my whiskey as I sat back, my hands coming to rest in my lap.

Ethan thought for a second before shrugging, "Then he's not the man for you." He said smoothly.

After a long moment of thinking, I sighed, "You serious?"

"If you want me to be." He said, a serious look gracing his beautiful features.

"Why would you do this?"

He frowned, clearly confused at my question.

"I mean," I elaborated, "I get Drake. What do you get from doing all this? WHy would you help me?" I asked, completely turning to face him.

He took a sip of his drink, buying more time deliberately.

"I have my reasons." He ended up saying.

I scoffed, "Cryptic much?" I raised an eyebrow, my curiosity piqued.

He chuckled, running a hand through his hair. "I guess I can be, yeah."

"Alright then, Mr. Cryptic, lay it on me. What are your mysterious reasons for wanting to help me make Drake jealous?" I teased, leaning in a bit closer to him.

Ethan took another sip of his drink, his eyes never leaving mine. "Let's just say, I have a bit of a soft spot for damsels in distress."

I rolled my eyes playfully. "Ah, the classic knight in shining armor complex."

He leaned in closer, his voice going gruff, "You have a problem with that?"

"How cliché." I scoffed.

He grinned. "Hey, don't knock it 'til you've tried it. Besides, I think we'd make a pretty convincing fake couple, don't you?"

I couldn't help but blush at his words, my heart fluttering in my chest. "I suppose we would," I admitted, my voice a bit breathy.
