Jason's breath was shaky as he carefully walked over to his supposed post near the barbed wire fence. He was scared, yet resolute, ready for anything these "bad boys" would throw at him. The breeze swept the dirt in his face causing him to squint as he was sure he saw three figures hanging around casually inside the fenced in area.
His feet carried him closer to the fence where he could see them better. There were three men, each dressed in their own style of clothes, all revolving around the general aesthetic of punk-rock. Jason couldn't help but find them intriguing.
Two of them were sitting on the dirt floor, playing cards, while the third, who seemed to be leader of the group, was staring directly at Jason. Jason jumped with a girlish yelp, almost dropping his rifle and gaining the attention of the two men playing cards.
The two on the floor were pretty different in appearance and height. The first was sturdy with spiky brown hair and a tie. The other had blonde hair with a black sleeveless shirt and converse. Finally, the leader had fluffy black hair and eyeliner with a black leather jacket that was zipped up. Jason was a little intimidated by their cool demeanor.
Since they were staring at him now, Jason decided to try and make some conversation.
"You guys must have done something pretty bad to end up here, huh?" he remarked.
The leader of the group stood up at this and began walking towards the fence. He leaned on it nonchalantly.
"Yep, third degree murder to be exact," he replied with a sly smile.
Jason's heart rate quickened at this.
"R-really?" he stuttered, trying to hide his fear.
The leader then let out a chuckle.
"Nah, I'm just messing with you," he answered. "You disappointed?"
"A little," Jason replied, tucking a strand of his hair behind his ear and smiling shyly. "I'm Jason, the new prison guard."
"Billie Joe," the leader introduced himself. "And that's Mike and Tré over there." He pointed to his prison mates.
Tré looked up from his card game and gave a short wave. Mike simply nodded in acknowledge.
"So what's a pretty thing like you doing working at a place like this?" Billie continued.
Jason blushed. "Well, my dad told me I needed to take more responsibility so he got me a job here to show him that I can handle something this important. Why is it important that you guys are kept in here, anyway?"
"You wanna know the real reason?" Billie asked darkly and Jason nodded nervously. "Well, you'll see soon enough." He chuckled wryly.
"Your dad must be pretty powerful to get you a job like this," Mike commented and Jason gave a forced smile.
He couldn't tell them that his dad was the President. People like them hated the government and if he was gonna befriend them, he had to keep it a secret for now.
"Oh, yeah I guess so," Jason said, dodging the question skillfully. Mike gave him a weird look but brushed it off, focusing his attention back on his card game.
"Whew," Jason thought to himself. "That was a close one." He gave an apprehensive chuckle and went back to his post. This job was going to be a lot more interesting than he thought.
