Chapter 1: Project Pairing

Sero leaned back on the couch, his fingers drumming nervously on his keyboard space bar. He felt the eyes on him as he continued to tap the spacebar annoyingly. Back in class, about an hour or two ago he was assigned a group project with Momo, Denki, Ochako, and Sato, but his mind was in a different place than work.

Everybody had their parts in the presentation— Momo was the brains, she'd be researching the topic. Sato was there to provide snacks and help everyone focus. Ochako was there adding designs onto the slides, Sero's job was to present the presentation out loud. Denki was there as moral support(charging support). This was a pop-up presentation because of Present Mic, it was the end-of-the-semester projects that are a big part of their grades. So his group gathered in the lounge of Heights Alliance.

But Sero couldn't shake off the anxiety in his stomach— not because of the stupid project but because he had a secret. A secret was sitting in his laptop files, his cursor just a few clicks away. It wasn't meant for anyone's eyes, well specifically ears. But because he was in a group setting, he felt as if anything could go wrong and it would accidentally leak something he wasn't comfortable with.

The project topic they were assigned was the impact of modern technology on art forms. Yayorozu had the great idea to focus on music, which naturally Jirou was upset because of the stolen 'talent'. Sero on the other hand was excited over this and was on board. He continued his knowledge about music that nobody knew he had a passion for, it was a secret skill that he had developed over a few months.

In the process of learning this skill, the reason for even understanding it in the first place was because of something personal, something that Kaminari and Mina even suggested to him.

The file was a song, not just any song, it was a personal song for Jirou. He wasn't even sure how.. it happened, it was just all so sudden. One moment, he was experimenting with different strings failing miserably, to make lyrics that voiced his feelings that he wasn't confident enough to say out loud.
