Yves recalde  was the type of girl everyone knew but never really noticed. She kept her head down, worked hard to keep her grades at the top of her class, and avoided the spotlight. In the small town of San Emilio, she was just another face in the crowd, blending into the background of a simple life. She didn’t mind it, though. After all, with her scholarship for college on the horizon, she had bigger dreams than just fitting in.

That was, until one fateful night when everything changed.

The sun had already set when Yves and her best friend, Aiah, found themselves at a local festival. The sounds of laughter and music filled the air, blending with the smells of street food and cotton candy. Yves felt a sense of peace wash over her, even as Aiah dragged her toward the bustling crowd.

"Yves, come on! We’re not leaving until we ride the Ferris wheel!" Aiah insisted, pulling her through the throng of people.

Yves sighed, giving in to her friend’s enthusiasm. It wasn’t like she had anything better to do. The night air was cool and the lights twinkled overhead, making the moment feel like something out of a dream. She just didn’t know that her nightmare was lurking nearby.

As they waited in line, the crowd suddenly shifted. A group of guys pushed through with an air of arrogance that made everyone scatter. Leading them was a boy with jet-black hair, dark eyes, and an unmistakable aura of danger. His name echoed through the town’s rumors, whispered with fear and fascination—Cole Vergara.

Cole was known for one thing: being the ruthless leader of a gang that dominated the underground world of San Emilio. He wasn’t someone you crossed, and definitely not someone you wanted to get involved with. But as fate would have it, Yves accidentally did.

As the crowd parted, Cole’s eyes met hers for a fleeting second. Yves felt a shiver run down her spine—not from fear, but from something else she couldn’t explain. His gaze was intense, like he was looking right through her, seeing more than she wanted to reveal. She quickly turned away, hoping he would forget her face in the sea of people.

But Cole wasn’t the type to forget.
