It was when Taylor hadn't returned for over an hour that Travis started to get worried. It was dark out, nearing midnight, and Taylor shouldn't be alone. It was then that he realised how stupid he was for letting her go. A woman, Taylor swift, should not be out, alone, at night. Especially not when she's upset, after they'd had an argument.

He rang her phone, swearing when it went too voicemail. Again. And agin. And again.

Pulling up 'Find my phone' he pressed on her icon, tracking where it was. The bridge. That was not a good sign.

Taylor had been struggling mentally, and Travis had tried to help her. He had done everything he could to help, but there was only so much he could do. She had gone to therapy and Travis thought she was doing better. It hurt him to think of the woman he loved in pain.

He immediately got into his car and set off. As he drove down different roads he prayed he wasn't too late, that he could still help her. Suddenly his phone buzzed beside him. His heart leapt as he picked it up, seeing a notification from Taylor.

'I love you'

"Shit" Travis pressed on the gas, all the while trying to call Taylor's phone, praying she picked up. No luck, it kept going to voicemail.

He was now at the end of the bridge, and he could see a shape in the distance. A person, climbing over the railing. Taylor.

He leapt out the car, screaming her name.
"Taylor!" He shouted, running towards her. "Stop! Taylor!" But she didn't hear him. It felt like time stopped as she let go, falling into the watery depths.
"No!" Travis screamed, jumping over the railing and diving after her.

The water was freezing, icy daggers piercing his skin. He kicked to the surface, taking a deep breath of air as he frantically searched for his girlfriend. The water was rough, pulling him in all directions.
"Taylor!" He shouted, but his cries were swallowed by the wind.

Suddenly he saw her. Floating, a couple of meters away from him, face down. He kicked towards her, dragging her lifeless body into his arms and pulling back her head so she could breathe. Her eyes were glued shut, her mouth slightly open. Her hair was in a tangled mess around her face, and Travis pulled it back so he could see her better.

In a couple of strong kicks they were at the shore. He dragged her body up the bank, leaning down to feel if she was breathing. It was light, but it was there. Her lips were blue and her face as white as a sheet.

He picked her up bridal style as he hurried up to his car. He set her in the passenger seat- he needed to keep an eye on her- then got in the drivers side, turning the heating to maximum temperature. Grabbing a blanket from the back seat he wrapped it around her shoulders, pressing a kiss to her forehead.

"You're okay baby, you're going to be fine" He kept reassuring her, or more himself, as he drove to the hospital. Every now and then he would glance over to check she was okay, and each time she would be lifeless, still.

They were almost at the hospital when Taylor's eyes fluttered open. Immediately she started shivering, her bottom lip trembling as she hugged her arms around herself.
"Trav?" She croaked, her voice hoarse.
"Taylor? Oh, thank god" Travis exhaled the breath he had been holding as tears started to roll down his cheeks. He didn't realise until then how scared he was to lose her.

"I'm sorry Travis, I'm sorry" Taylor sobbed, her face in her hands as her body shook.
"No, baby, Tay stop apologising. I'm sorry, I should be thankful you're communicating your thoughts. I'm so sorry" Travis apologised over and over, believing it was his fault.
"No, don't apologise" Taylor sniffed, clutching the blanket tighter as her teeth chattered.

Suddenly her eyes rolled back in her head and she slumped back, her head lolling to one side.
"Taylor? Taylor!" Travis reached across, shaking her shoulder as he pulled up outside the hospital. He got out the car and pulled her into his arms, shaking her gently.
"Taylor wake up, wake up baby, please" he cried as he rushed into the hospital.

Immediately doctors came running and Taylor was laid on a gurney. She was wheeled away from Travis as he watched helplessly from afar, praying she would be okay. A nurse lead him to a waiting room, giving him some spare clothes to change into and a blanket. After that all he could do was wait.

A couple of hours later another nurse entered the waiting room, beckoning Travis over.
"She's stable; she had caught hypothermia and it has affected her lungs and heart, however that can be treated with antibiotics. You may come and see her now"

Travis was lead down winding corridors until he was stopped outside of a room. He took a deep breath, turning the handle.

There she was. She looked tiny in the middle of the hospital bed, various machines connected to her. Her face was pale and she had an oxygen tube under her nose, but she was alive. She was alive.

"Hi" she whispered, her voice weak and hoarse.
"Baby" Travis cried, rushing to her side and taking her hand in his. "Don't ever do that to me again. Never ever ever"
"Never" Taylor smiled up at him weakly.
"Promise?"
"Promise"
