There is an inbuilt feature provided with MS Outlook i.e Inbox Repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to rectify the errors.
The users can use this Inbox repair tool when the file is not severely error infected .To repair outlook PST using Inbox repair tool (SCANPST.EXE) users have to follow some easy steps.
Some list wise steps to repair PST file:

a) Go to the location where (SCANPST.EXE) file is saved.
b) Double-click SCANPST.EXE
c) A short window MS Outlook Inbox Repair Tool will appear
d) Browse corrupt PST File from the system directory.
e) Select File to Scan will come up. Select Corrupt PST file and start the scanning process.
f) SCANPST.EXE will start scanning the corrupt PST File.
g) The check box, "Make back up of scanned file before repairing" is checked by default
h) Proceed to click he button named Repair.
