Chapter One

Here I am, standing in a silent forest all alone. Beads of sweat roll down my face as I check around for those people who were pursuing me not long ago. I take a breath of relief as I notice they are nowhere to be found. I stood there wondering what was wrong with them, seeing as they randomly attacked me on my daily walk. I think one of them was trying to bite me too! People these days seem to be getting crazier by the minute.

I decided to walk through to the other side of the forest, as I knew that would lead me into town, maybe then I could report what happened to the police and get those people caught. When I began to walk towards the direction of town, the sounds of the forest began to fill my ears. Birds chirping and darting throughout the trees, my footsteps on the fallen leaves and twigs, and the sound of a small stream flowing. These moments in life were pleasent, and I enjoyed them quite a lot, but as I am normally stuck inside my home working, I can't enjoy them much.

I shortly exited the woods, looking around expecting to see the familiar faces of this small town, but I saw nothing but a quiet, desolate town. It looked as though everyone dropped everything and left. Or at least that's what I thought until further examination. Corpses littered everywhere, some with bullet wounds, and others with odd bites, flesh missing off of various parts, and some almost nothing but bones.

Looking around and seeing these things, I had to fight the urge to vomit. But, my efforts were nothing but efforts, as I was unable to hold it in very long. After taking a moment to recover as much as I could from seeing these things, I thought that it would be wise to head home, and drive away as far as I could. But something made me walk towards the town, so I could check for others, and that may have been something I would regret doing.
